Player Name: Saffy
Player LJ: ariesrising
Email and/or AIM: aerith AT inbox DOT com // fairily fabulous / riku ftw / inherits the sun
Timezone: Pacific
Other Characters: Puck (bacchusfairy); Minami Ikki (crowheaded)

Character: Sakurai Yuuto
Series/Fandom: Kamen Rider Den-O
Deviance: d2; Ryotarou and Deneb also share this deviance.

Age: 18 (10/28/1988)
Gender: Male
Species: Human (singularity point?)

Canon Used:
Going off the Den-O TV series and the movies, "Ore Tanjou!" and eventually "Climax Deka".

Appearance: Yuuto is a Japanese teenager, about average height, with brownish hair often brushed out of his eyes. His expression usually seems blank, though there's a lot of puppy power in those dark eyes if he's upset, and his dorky grin is incredibly innocent. (He's also capable of mischief.) He prefers to wear something casual, like a printed tee with a black or white vest on top of it, jeans, and black Converse or boots. On occasion he's been known to wear heavier leather jackets, but rarely is he seen in anything actually colorful.

He also wears a plain silver engagement band either on his hand or on a cord around his neck. Convenience and everything. And no, it's not rusty like in the screenshot.

Psychology:

Yuuto is a very driven person. Searching for the truth at the center of something not only intrigues him, but it becomes a sort of mantra. This translates into his love of stars, which is even written into the kanji of his first name. Despite having to give up on a college education to help his fiancée with her coffee shop, he continued to study the movements of the heavens on his own time. It also means that Yuuto has a keen sense of what must be done, though this doesn't necessarily mean what's right and wrong; he's been known to try shortcuts in order to accomplish his goals faster. That is more related to the somewhat lazy and spoiled part of his personality, something that developed from being babied by his girlfriend all the time.

At the core, Yuuto is actually shy and reserved. However, having to cope with the disappearance of his brother-in-law and taking charge has toughened him up a bit. He kept his wry sense of humor and a smile despite it all, which is better than his canon counterpart. Yuuto is unpredictable in that his emotions at the time rule him, yet he continually tries to suppress them and fails... causing what appears to be moodswings from apathy or snark into complete and utter dorkiness. Sometimes Yuuto can be rather push-and-pull, since dorky behavior for him means randomly beating the crap out of his Imagin friends and whining if he hurts himself.

However hotheaded he can be sometimes, Yuuto knows when to get serious. Those who get in his way don't often last long. For example, his fiancée's brother from the past is fighting in Yuuto's place, and Yuuto doesn't believe that's right. So, he's determined to train by himself to make it so that Ryotarou doesn't have to fight for him. Or at least, not by himself.

That's another important note: Yuuto can give off the impression that he wants to be alone, but in all actuality, loneliness frightens him. The prospect of someday not having his Imagin friends, or losing Nogami-- Ryotarou-- again after getting him back is something he struggles with to the point of denying it entirely. Even though Nogami isn't the same as Ryotarou, he is, and Yuuto is determined to bring him back into Airi's life.

Other Skills/Abilities: Yuuto is an expert in astronomy, even at his age. He can defend himself to a point, but that's only through training with the other Imagin, so he's not that great of a fighter.

In Yuuto's reality, people can make contracts with time-traveling monsters called Imagin, who are after treasured memories so that they may rampage in the past and alter the future for their Big Bad, Kai. The contractors typically cannot control their Imagin, who can also possess them and gain inhuman strength in a human form. Yuuto, in this deviance, is the Singularity Point of his time, which not only means his memory is vital to restoring what the Imagin have done, but he can control his to a degree-- and even push Imagin out of other people.

While possessed by an Imagin, Yuuto looks and sounds the same to people unaware of the Imagin's existence. The Imagin he's contracted to can hear what's going on in Yuuto's life, typically, though he's capable of putting up a shield to block them out. They can also speak in his mind, though he has to speak out loud back.

His greatest ability is that of turning into the infamous, time-train-riding Masked Rider Den-O. However, since he currently lacks the presence of allied Imagin in the Plane who can grant him their strength and abilities, the only form he can access is Plat Form. Plat Form lacks armor and proper weaponry and serves only as a springboard for the other Forms, hence the name.

Other Weaknesses: In Plat Form, his armor is limited in comparison to the strength of the Imagin. Outside of that, Yuuto is a typical human being, and can be killed like normal human beings can. Having four to five Imagin with the ability to possess you at once is extremely draining, so he's tired from that, though not as much as someone like Ryotarou who has poor health in the first place.

History: Yuuto was raised in a typical middle-class Japanese family. Being an only child, he decided to focus on his education. His grades weren't perfect because he had a tendency to daydream a lot in class, but with hard work, he managed to obtain entrance into a decent university where he could work on his passion for the stars. On his way to school, he often stopped in a coffee/book shop run by Nogami Airi and her older brother, Ryotarou. He and Airi fell in love quickly and were engaged to be married. However, before college started and before they could be married, Nogami disappeared. The only thing he left behind was a pocketwatch that had been given to Sakurai originally as a Christmas present.

Airi was devastated to the point of losing all memory of her older brother. Yuuto missed his mentor of sorts, but he had to focus on restoring his fiancée's memory and keeping the business going. He decided to drop out of college before he could even start and put all of his savings into running the Milk Dipper.

Life went on like this for some time until, one day, while going to the shop, he stumbled upon a dropped train pass of some sort. On his way to return it, several strange things happened. Still unsure exactly of what was going on, he tried to go back to his normal life-- though he was still in possession of the Den-O Rider Pass, and an Imagin named Momotaros kept trying to form a contract with him, only to be completely ignored. Circumstance forced them to fight together, though Yuuto kicked the hotheaded Imagin out of his body before he could kill the men bullying him-- and thus, he was told about his destiny as Den-O.

While Yuuto got to know Momotaros, three other Imagin showed up in their own special ways. Yuuto learned the value of thinking through things, and also, that some Imagin were harder to control than others. When things seemed to be going a certain way, suddenly, he bumped into Nogami-- an elusive figure in a baseball cap and a hoodie, determined to hide his face. Yuuto had a momentary fit, then a breakdown, and almost got left behind in time.

After explaining Nogami's disappearance to the DenLiner crew, he set out again... and that was when he met Ryotarou, Nogami's self from ten years ago. Despite Ryotarou's objections and apparent annoyance at the way Yuuto did things, Yuuto was set on dragging him to the Milk Dipper to try and get Airi to remember him. Because although she had Yuuto, Airi still needed a big brother. (There was also the issue of Yuuto marrying Airi...) It turns out that this past version of Nogami also had the ability to transform into Den-O's fighting buddy, Zeronos, and he had a time train of his own called the ZeroLiner. So, Den-O and Zeronos fought against the Imagin together for a time, who were getting stronger and stronger.

Yuuto got himself into a fix with a princely Imagin named Sieg, whom he could not control. He was looking for his "mother", believing he'd made a contract with a woman and her baby. When they found her, Yuuto was mistaken for a kidnapper and arrested. Sieg became Wing Form to protect the baby's mother despite beginning to disappear, and then Yuuto took him into his contractor's past so Sieg could live in happiness there. But Ryotarou had nothing to do with it so who cares.

Eventually Yuuto started having strange dreams where he was kidnapped by Ryotarou and Deneb, and forced to be possessed by the Imagin. It turns out that was Ryotarou from a short time in the future, trying to prepare Yuuto for something known as the Climax Scene. It also happens that a time-traveling train thief named Gaoh had hijacked DenLiner and was going to use it to find God's Line in order to erase the day that Yuuto had been born. After some escapades, being separated, meeting his younger self, and having Zeronos' ass kicked by Gaoh, the crew regained control of the DenLiner and took on the thief and his Imagin. Much ass-kicking was given and taken, and Team Good Guys emerged victorious, but at a cost...

The Imagin, sans Momotaros, were unable to possess him anymore. In fact, they were disappearing, because all of the kidnapping had made him forget for a time that he'd fought with them. Yuuto broke down, but Owner encouraged him to think outside the box, and the sandy remnants of his Imagin friends formed into something resembling a cell phone: the K-Taros. He realized they could always fight together if they used it. The K-Taros not only reaffirmed Yuuto's link with his Imagin, but also made it possible to access an entirely new tier of strength, one cushioned by four Imagin working together: Climax Form.

Current Story Point: Post Episode 33: "Time Traveler Kohana".

Reality Description: Yuuto resides in Tokyo, Japan, in 2007-2008. However, there is one major difference: the presence of Imagin. Imagin are monsters modeled after fairy tales and myths with incredible strength and powers, and they prey on weak-willed people, offering "wishes", in hopes of gaining access to their precious memories. Through memories, Imagin can possess the contractor and travel back in time in order to wreak havoc and connect the present to the Imagin's destroyed, desolate future. The Imagin themselves are actually little more than sand and soul, given shape by the contractor's imagination... hence the name. All of them can hear a voice in the back of their heads, telling them to destroy the past, but the six that we see on Yuuto and Ryotarou's side have long since forsaken that voice.

A majority of the series also takes place in what can only be called the "deserts of Time". This world is that of rainbow, never-darkening sky, endless white sands, and distance. It is in this world that the DenLiner, ZeroLiner, and other time-entities like the Station reside, forming tracks out of nothingness. One can go out and walk around in it just fine, but getting lost means you wander time forever. Literally.

Important people include Yuuto's fiancée, Nogami Airi, who runs the only coffee shop in Japan worth mentioning. There is also Owner, who acts as the Know-It-All whenever a problem comes up and owns the DenLiner, and Hana, the Singularity Point of the destroyed and rightful future.

The Imagin that team up with Yuuto include: Momotaros, the hot-headed and big-brotherly one; Urataros, who is a womanizer and a liar and gets Yuuto in trouble with Airi sometimes; Kintaros, who is honorable and sumo-like and a chronic narcoleptic; and Ryuutaros, who really wants to kill Yuuto and take Airi for himself but sees it all as a game. ♥

As of 8/29/2008, Yuuto, Ryotarou (saythistostart), and Deneb (imprettystrong)'s realities are merged.

They also have a partial merge with Hei at the Milk Dipper, and some kind of superfancyspecial merge with the d3 Doctor, Master, Lucy, and TARDIS. It's complicated. Don't ask me how it works.
