HASA news - migrating your stories

With the announcement of HASA's closing at the end of the year, it's time to think about where to move your stories. This is especially relevant for authors who post all or some of their work exclusively at HASA, but everybody may want to have another archive as backup for their work.

Great! I am trying to spread the word as widely as I can also to let people know. Fandom history is important and I, for one, do not want to see seminal stories within the fandom lost because someone did know the archive was closing. (I'm personally covered--Silmarillion Writers Guild for my Silm fics and everything on AO3.)

The stories of mine posted at HASA are all also posted at Faerie and at Twisting The Hellmouth, and some at Many Paths to Tread. Although I recognise TTH is not an option open to most of the other people whose stories are at HASA, Faerie is easy to post to, and friendly because of the shoutbox, and would accept everything that was accepted by HASA.

I do hope the HASA resources can be preserved somewhere, and thanks to everyone from the original founders to the current mods for all the pleasure, and help, HASA has given over the years.

It is also possible to have the mods (you cannot do it yourself, also not at Faerie) upload your reviews at the SWG and MPTT, and I think if you prod Keith at Lord of the Rings fanfiction too. Basically all archives that use efiction software has that possibility.

My longer-than-a-drabble pieces (as Azalais) are all also at Tolkienfanfiction and some are on FFnet. Lots of the drabbles are also here at LJ on tolkien_weekly, if that's where they originated.

I've backed up some of my reviews/comments from HASA already (the ones of my only novel-length piece) and will try to get around to backing up the reviews/comments of my shorter pieces as well by the end of the year, though I could live without those...

It is sad to think of HASA being no more - though I do totally understand that sites can't always be maintained forever - and I second all those thanks to all those who've contributed in any way over the years. I do hope the Resource Library does get preserved - it was such a goldmine to me when I was more actively writing!

Almost everything I've written is on the SWG here.

Very old stuff and the odd LotR drabble would be on my LJ, tags list here.

I also archive on MPTT and AO3, although there is not going to be anything on those sites that isn't at one of the places above, since I'm not as good about posting there. :)
