When my nephew was born
I wanted to give him a moon
but the moon was late
I was complaining
saying
nothing like that
could ever happen
in Ukraine
if you order things online
be it a star
the sun
or
the moon
it arrives before
you start getting upset
otherwise
the e-commerce
responsible for delivery
is under the risk
of being burned
to ashes
with customers’ rage
Yet
the moon was late
and arrived one day
after my baby-nephew’s departure
I checked if it works
it was levitating
as advertised
on Instqgram
although it took
hell of patience
to make it do so
in reality.
Back then
Ukraine was
a few hours flight away
and we didn’t imagine
how much patience
will be needed
to keep levitating
to keep going
to accept
that speedy e-commerce
and shiny airports
will remain in before
and we won’t know
when after
is going to come
to put ticks
in the to do list
“next trip to Ukraine”
We used to say
“I love you
to the moon
and back”
Now we say
“To Ukraine
before the war -
and and after”
