A man by the name of Giovanni extorted the funds needed to pay a team of independent scientists in order to create me.

*chuckles* Only because they likely did not want to risk my mental capacities being diminished by such inhibitors. I was fully intended to serve Giovanni, which I did for a time... him giving me the illusion of partnership.
But yes... I am free now. I have sworn for a long time to never be chained again.
