Manda's Myriad Musical Musings

Dec 20, 2004 09:24

My life is fairly boring, but we'll get a quick update on me before I forge ahead into my musings. I have two more days of work, provided the weather doesn't keep me from work on Wednesday, and then I am off for eleven straight days. I know I need the rest.

I am done with my Christmas shopping, so that's a definite plus. I hate waiting until the last minute, and I think I got done last Wednesday, which was really just the right time.

Watching the news makes me sad. Cue Jack Johnson. All right, onto my musical musings.

Gavin Degraw - All right, I have gotten to where I like that song of his they're incessantly playing, but I have a problem with the lyrics.
I'm surrounded by lies/everywhere I turn/I'm surrounded by impostors/everywhere I turn/I'm surrounded by identity crisis...
You can't fool me. I know he's not saying "crises" because it doesn't SOUND like he's saying crises. So suddenly he's surrounded by one crisis, but more than one everything else. Don't think so.

Snoop Dogg - Snoop, I just thought I'd let you know I chose to listen to CCR over you today. Your latest song sucks. (In my brain, 'sucks' is all drawn out like the song sounds.) Also, I need not hear your mouth-click noises at the end of it, because I can hear your mouth making mouth noises, wet weird mouth noises, and EW it makes me feel violated because EW and you're gross. And just for good measure, ew.

Josh Groban - Every other version of "O Holy Night" should be taken off the radio.

Elvis - "Blue Christmas" needs to be left to Willie Nelson. That, or you needed to ditch the "ooh-eeh-ooh-ooh" backup. Yeeeich. "I'll-a have-a-huh-huh bluuuuue..." No.

Little Drummer Boy - I must be hormonal. I got all teary-eyed listening to it. Then I noticed the boys' choir who was singing it was rolling their Rs during the "Parum-pa-pum-pum" and I got all jealous and stopped feeling emotional. I can't do that. It must be nice to be able to make that drumming noise while you're singing the drumming song, mustn't it? IT REALLY MUST.

I need help.

Is it weird when a friend you haven't talked to in like six months calls and is like "Oh, the baby's doing fine" and you know you've been totally remiss in sending them the appropriate congratulations?
