Arashi's Ohno Satoshi (30) will be reprising his role as Kaibutsu-kun in the movie version slated to open later this year. It was recently announced that part of the filming took place in India.
The original drama broadcasted last April on NTV. The movie version will be shot entirely in 3D. In the film, Kaibutsu-kun will lose his way while traveling in the 'Kingdom of Curry'. Filming was completed in Jaipur, which is located in Northwestern India. Those who participated in the filming included local staff from the Academy Award winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, adding some 'Oscar Power' to the movie.
Ohno says, "the location was exactly how we envisioned the movie to be. Even though we continued to eat curry everyday, it was really yummy!" Furthermore, Ohno points out there's tons to look forward to in the movie, as the scale has just gotten a lot bigger. Kamikawa Takaya (45) and Kitamura Kazuki (41) have been announced as new additions to the cast. The movie will be directed by Nakamura Yoshihiro and will open in theaters this winter.
