This a plea going out to anyone that is computer-competent. I have a problem that I am slowly trying to isolate. What's happening is that I noticed that when I was playing mp3s in iTunes, they would sort of skip or lag. It sounded like you would expect it to sound if the computer were running a lot of programs at once and had to stall a song for a moment to catch up on some other process. However, the problem is still there when I run the machine with only iTunes. I've also run it with winamp and windows media player so I know it's not the program. I've run mp3s off of an external hard drive, so I know it's not my hard drive. I'm not sure what else I should be checking. I ran a complete system scan for viruses and spyware and I didn't find anything. I'm thinking my next step is to get into the bios and turn off hyperthreading and see if that fixes it. The components are all brand new, so I should be able to use the warranty to get replacements once I figure out what the problem is. My gut is telling me that I have a processor issue.
Any suggestions?
