I wanna hold your hand ~ Prologue

Jan 27, 2009 08:06

It's been a long time since I've written anything of substance, this is my attempt to come back. Originally this fic was gonna be titles "Season's Call", but the plot just wasn't working so I remade it into this, I hope you guys like it. This is also an unofficial continuation to my fic " Kataritsugu koto" (which you can read if you click here, it's ShuuKira though and m-preg)

If you don't like M-preg you can skip this chapter, there's a link at the bottom for the first chapter. You don't need to read "Kataritsugu koto" to understand this story.

Enjoy~!

I wanna hold your hand
(Ikka/Yumi)

Prologue ~ I'm a believer
And then I saw her face
Now I'm a believer
Not a trace
Of doubt in my mind
I'm in love
I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her
If I tried

Pregnancy more or less agreed with Yumichika. His hair and skin seemed to glow more everyday, making him feel and look more beautiful than normally. But it also triggered bouts of moodiness, incessant crying and cruel snapping, most of it directed at Ikkaku.

The bald man had learned how to interpret the cues Yumi unconsciously gave for him to be ready on hand and foot for his needs, or a head start before a frying pan flew by his head.

"Be patient, that's all you can do for now," Kira had suggested as he balanced a stack of files on one hand, and his own kid propped on his hip with the other. As much as he expected some more helpful advice, Ikkaku took that small wisdom to heart and into practice. With little success.

Once in a while, Yumi would stay calm and quiet enough for Ikkaku to look at him and admire his partner.

The afternoon light always seemed to hit Yumichika's face in the perfect angle to make him look somehow younger than what his hundred years hid. Back then, Yumichika's hair had been long, his face had been framed differently but still remained that defiant charm that had captivated Ikkaku.

To speak of Yumi's past was to speak of his father, and there was only so far Yumi would talk about. But Ikkaku remembered, and as much as he denied it, he knew Yumi remembered too. But what was the point of forcing him if he made such an ugly face, brow frown and lips pursed in annoyance.

"Hey, you."

Ikkaku broke out of his stupor and looked directly into Yumichika's gaze, piercing gently through him. "What are you think about?"

"Stuff. You?"

A soft sigh and Yumi leaned back on his seat, rubbing his belly and looking out the window again. "Stuff too...."

Ikkaku stood and walked over to him, placing a gentle kiss on his lover's cheek. "I love you, babe."

"I love you too....Remember your promise?"

Ikkaku grinned, leaning to kiss Yumi's lips. "How could I? I'm still keeping it."

Yumi smiled softly and leaned against Ikkaku, their hands clasped together gently.

To be continued.... Hound Dog

Author's Note: I wasn't gonna write this prologue, but in the end I decided to make this story a continuation of "Kataritsugu koto" and decided to write this prologue to pull them together. As is, it's more of a prequel to "Kataristugu koto" even though it doesn't have much to do with the story...

Anyway, I chose the song because it convey's some of the feelings Ikkaku will later on feel about Yumichika, and even a few that he still feels (the line I couldn't leave her if I tried).
