Haven't read yet, but I must express my joy for the existence of this post ; w; I've been trying to get back into Jpop for months now, but I don't know where to start. And I've always been curious about Ayumi Hamasaki, since she's so big in Japan. Thanks so much for the pimp post!
Ayu has performed "poker face" in concert twice, at A MUSEUM and Limited TA Tour 2003. Heh. And Ayu has recorded another song not written by her - "teens", originally sung by TRF. It appears on the "Startin'/Born to be..." single (well, that's the acoustic version). And I thought her and Tomoya weren't engaged, and those were just rumors?

I agree with so many of your reason about why Ayu is great. I love her so much because of the effort she really puts into connecting with her fans. Her time in London really shows how much she cares about her fans, especially the ones outside of Asia. She spent so much time with them, taking pictures and signing their merch and just being a friend. Of course, thinking about the photobook she got from her fans brings me to tears, mostly because my letter was one of the ones in there. :')
It's the best site to look up Ayu stuff. Divine Ayu is better for copying and pasting lyrics lol Well, this site doesn't have mp3s, and only a few videos (pretty much non-downloadable), but if you ever want to look up the specs for songs, albums, whatever... your best bet is Eneabba.
I actually didn't realize "poker face" was performed at LTA03 I checked out that site before I commented here. lol
I could be wrong about the engagement thing. I know the breakup was out of nowhere and engagement rumors were floating around then, but they could have been confirmed and I may have overlooked it? But I remember all the other nasty rumors from them... *sigh*
There needs to be an Ayu panel discussion group. LOL I'd go to that!!!
