So, I'm curious

How many people have actually commented upon the fact that there were some serious consent issues involved in Gary-in-Sam having sex with that domina, assuming that Gary went through with it. And with Gary being a frustrated virgin (though funny, I still don't know how Sam came to that conclusion) on a rebelling-against-the-parents trip that's very probable.

But then, consent issues concerning Sam seemingly aren't mentioned anymore if it's about the possibility of Sam being a victim in a sexual context, if they ever were. After all, fandom ripped into Sam for rape/necrophilia when he and Ruby had sex in IKWYDLS. That he said no multiple times, even turned away from her and tried to get away from, only participated after she'd practically crawled into his lap, was never even mentioned. The way Ruby acted and in the state of mind he was at that time, she at least took advantage of him.
Also, in BUABS when it looked like possessed!Sam was going to rape Jo (and I know that it looked like that for me the first time around)? Jo wouldn't have been the only victim. I don't think many would have cared to comment upon that.

So, why does show keep telling us that random strangers make better partners for Dean than Sam? So what if Sam isn't fun to be around at the moment? He does have enough reasons to be depressed and nobody seems to care about what he feels (which seems to be a trend still from his childhood). Also, what does Sam do for fun? We only know about soccer as something he likes to do (or did I miss any mention of other hobbies? Can being a Mathlete be called a hobby?). We know he watched a lot of movies/shows with Dean, but that isn't anything unusual, considering the tv was something of a babysitter. And, yeah, he's good at research and retaining information, but that doesn't say anything about liking it or not. Knowledge was a way to get out of the family business. Maybe reading. The normal, not-researching kind. But when does he have time for that? Oh well, who cares?

Also, when Sam said Gary's life sucked? In a way it did. After all, it was just like his life, only with normal things (parental expectations that might or might not have anything to do with your own interests and the parents not caring about different opinions from the child) instead of hunting. Also, the parents didn't seem that concerned about their son acting this weird. Which is kind of worrying.

And, Dean? I would really like to punch you for that question. You were, after all, on the front lines in the battle against Sam's dreams of a life outside of hunting. Keeping those dreams alive after the last 4.5 years? Dean, please do everyone a favor and try to get to know Sam. It might save you and everyone else some serious headaches.
