[fic] crimson rain

Part 1

The rain didn’t seem to stop pouring; wetting the pathway and trees outside. Kazuya just looked blankly at the beautiful sight, counting every drops of moisture that fell onto the narrow window pane.

She just sat there; numb, letting him treating the wound on her right hand. They didn’t talk much after he found her sitting under the rain; the man figures that she isn’t much of a talker. She just replied everything he asked in one word.

“There. It’s done.” He said, after securing the bandage firmly with a knot.

“Thanks.” She was about to get up and leave the place; when the young man stopped her.

“Stay. It’s still raining outside.”

She isn’t supposed to say yes to the request; even being inside a stranger’s house is risky to her real identity. But she couldn’t say no either.

Not to him.

The steam from a coffee pot rose up to the kitchen’s ceiling. He took out two monogrammed mugs and poured the hot liquid inside.

She didn’t sip even once; just continued to play her long fingers around the edges of the mug.

"What's your name?" He began asking; while keeping his eyes on her.

"Kazuya. Kitagawa Kazuya." She then cursed herself silently for giving him her real name. An assassin should keep his or her real name a secret; shut them selves from being recognized by the public. But somehow, she gave in; again. This man in front of her was uncovering her layers bit by bit.

The man looked up and immediately saw her beautiful hazel eyes that he had adored since he saw her for the first time. There’s something special about those warm colored orbs.

"What?"

He shook his head; trying to hide the real expression by smiling at her.

"Nothing. Mine is Akanishi Jin."

Their eyes met again; where he found the same vacuous eyes that were begging to be saved. She looked vulnerable, despite the attempt on showing her inner strength. Indeed, sad eyes never lie.

“I should go now. Thanks again for this.” She stepped out from the kitchen, and he just followed her from behind.

Right at the front door, Jin managed to grab a pencil and piece of paper. He clumsily wrote down his cell phone number and handed it to her.

“If you need anything. Just give me a call.” He wanted her to call. Jin wanted to know more about this girl. Not just because she is physically attractive, but because there’s so much more to be discovered about Kitagawa Kazuya.

He vaguely remembered the first time she actually gave him a call; two weeks later. Soft weep was heard from the other line. The caller ID was unknown to him, but Jin immediately knew that it was Kazuya.

“Hey…what’s wrong? Something happened?”

She kept sobbing and sobbing; it was painful just to hear her voice.

Jin felt like rushing to her side and hugs her; if only he knew where she was.

“No! P….Please! Don’t kill me!! I’ll give you anything…just don’t kill me!!”

Human is such a susceptible creature when it comes to their own life. They are willing to do anything but dying. Death is said to be so painful; they’re scared of facing the day of eternal farewell.

The man in his forties was pretty much the same like other human being. He has feared expression on his face; sweat all over his shirt. He might even pee in his pants.

Well, who wouldn’t if their head is the main target of a .45 caliber pistol?

She held the gun firmly in her hands, ready to pull the trigger; when something unexpected happened.

“Don’t kill my daddy! Bad oneechan!!” A boy of around five ran towards her and started to hit her with his multi-colored plastic hammer. His little sister hid behind the wall, crying while hugging her pink bunny plush.

“Niichan…I’m scared..” She softly sniveled.

“Don’t worry Izumi! Oniichan will protect you!”

Upon hearing those words from the innocent young child, Kazuya immediately broke down. The three family members could only look in surprise as she put down her weapon and ran away.

“Kazu. Come here darling.”

“Mother!” Her radiant smile could lighten up any heart, Kazuya always wonder what she had done in the past to deserve having such a beautiful mother.

“Kazuya…?” The voice echoed in her ears. It slowly brought her back to the reality. With crumpled paper in her hand, she read the note.

“…Jin”

People kept passing by her; but she didn’t move even a bit. The young woman just stood there numbly on the busy street of Tokyo. Her cheeks flushed and wet with tears.

“Where are you??!” There’s a tone of urgency in his voice.

She began to scan her environment and spotted a huge building with ‘Shibuya 109’ signage on top of it.

“Wait there! I’ll come and pick you up.” The line went dead as she sat on one corner of the street.

“My pretty little girl, Kazu. Mommy loves you soooo much.” The laughter wounded her from the inside as she brought her legs closer to her chest; sitting on the bricked pathway

“I love you too, mommy…”
