Well, I intended to: AKA entropy at work:

This was a day when I intended to do a number of things. The usual stream of minor oopsies happened and I got none of them done.

I had an eye exam scheduled (nothing major. Just my prescription slowly changing with time).
But, called the optician up to let them know I would be late after almost a quart of coffee spilled, while looking for my vision plan info, decorating various papers, table, chair seat, the floor, etc. It also bullseyed the Sencore Z meter that I got from Aerofox. Cream and sugar as always, so I get to open up the meter and clean it out of sticky stuff.

Had to reschedule for next Wednesday, though the time works well. I can go on the way in to work.

I also planned on cutting down a bunch of weeds around the place. I started out with a gas hedge trimmer, which stopped working after a few minutes due to some as yet undiagnosed fuel system problem. Strike one.

While checking on the in tank fuel filter, I managed to tear a fuel hose. Strike two.

Then I grabbed my ever trusty Toro weed whacker, filled the tank, and was greeted with a stream of leaking fuel. Another broken fuel hose. It was after 5 pm, so most parts places would be closed. Strike three.

Last night, while collecting the old suburban (Yes, RC. The Short Bus still lives) from Allerton where I'd left it while retrieving my backhoe, the running lights and dash lights died after I smelled smoke in the cab. Blown fuse and a short somewhere.

On the upside, I now have all the parts to fix my riding mower which broke its front axle some time back.

I currently have the family of a friend from work staying at my place. I was going to help him move last Thursday, and our employer didn't get his direct deposit reworked in time, so he couldn't sign the lease on his new apartment and had to be out of the place he was in that day (a real pit). For want of a nail and all that...
