so i looked up the school newspaper about the movie thing and here's the article about it. i guess i was wrong about it being a low-budget movie seeing as how there are "big-name" actors in it. And the lead role belongs to none other than Caleb's favorite Will Ferrell!!!!
anyway, here's the article:

Trucks for major motion picture transportation are not the usual vehicles parked in UIC's campus, but many students are curious about the upcoming movie filming in UIC. UIC's east campus has been picked to appear in several scenes for Will Ferrell's new movie, "Stranger than Fiction."

"Stranger than Fiction" is a comedy that tells the story of an IRS agent (Will Ferrell) who inexplicably finds himself the subject of a narrator only he can hear, a narrator who tells him that events have been set in motion that will lead to his imminent death.

The film's famous director, Marc Foster, has also directed other successful movies like "Monster's Ball" in 2001 and "Finding Neverland" in 2004. The movie also stars Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Thompson, and Queen Latifah.

Some students ponder why UIC's campus was chosen for the major motion picture instead of other universities in Chicago

"I'm very surprised they chose this school out of all the other colleges in Chicago, because there are more nice-looking schools to pick from," Zuhair Boudaz, Junior Finance major said.

UIC was selected as a site for the movie because a campus scene was needed. Illinois Film Office, promotes the use of Illinois area for films, was contacted by the producers of the film to scout Chicago for a campus scene. After, UIC was chosen for its architecture.

Students have already seen Will Ferrell walking around Douglas Hall, but no other stars were sighted. The filming is to start on April 25 and finish around mid-July, but the filming in UIC will only last two weeks.

Several different locations on campus will be used in scenes for the movie. Some areas are known to be Douglas Hall, Lincoln Hall, men's locker room in the Physical Education Building, and the swimming pool in SCE.

"Stranger than Fiction" is not the first movie to include scenes from UIC's campus. One of the most popular horror flicks, "Candy Man" filmed several scenes in UIC. Another movie filmed around UIC's campus was "The Blues Brothers," where scenes were shot in former Maxwell Street Market.

Most Chicago residents and UIC students may not know it but Chicago has been one of the more popular cities for filming movies. About 200 movies have used Chicago's downtown, residential and commercial areas in movies like "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "Ocean's 11," and "Spiderman II."

"Stranger than Fiction" will be an addition to UIC and Chicago's history for its filming locations. Although the movie does not have a specific release date yet, it will be out in 2006.
