Summers End

Oct 07, 2006 11:02

I remember in 10th grade, Mrs. Gravino had us write a paper entitled "Summers End."

My final confirmation why summer MUST be over at this point...

1) It's gotten quite chilly outside over the past 2 days, hence making the apartment chilly enough to finally...

2) ...take the air conditioner out of the window today. (I've been meaning to do that for a while anyway)

Happy Fall. Officially. Whether that's a good "happy" or a sarcastic "happy" is TBD.
Maybe next summer I'll be taking the air conditioner out in a place that I'll actually own and will actually be mine. That's a goal for next August... I'm saving now! Or maybe it'll have Central Air and I won't have to worry about taking the damn thing out and I can sell it. Hmmm...
All the possibilities of what can happen in a year. I hope I can afford some form of a townhouse/condo/co-op thing by the end of the year.

What I love about Fall, especially after the Jewish Holidays are usually over:
-The crisp air, with a brisk and fresh subtle scent
-The foliage!
-The scents at candle shops (esp. pumpkin spice, apple harvest)
-Taking out my sweatshirts, sweaters, and sweatervests!
-Light jackets
-Halloween decorations, Haunted Houses, and Halloween-themed stores
-The whole concept of Thanksgiving (not that my family gets together at all and celebrates it anymore.. it'll probably be another lonely one, though the whole idea of going from Thanksgiving into the Holiday season at the end of November is always exciting to me!)
-The anniversary of becoming a family with my Sherlock! (Who is purrring on my lap right now!)
-Using the numbers 10, 11, and 12 in the date (dorky, I know)
-Preparing Holiday music with my students 3 months before the holiday (well, not really something I LOVE... but a TRUE sign of it being Fall...X-mas in October)

To all my education friends out there... Happy 3 day weekend!
