from the ants' point of view
Originally uploaded by P'toxy. i have such a weak spot for shoes. if i like them, i want them, and if i pass them up i will think about it for months. i just can't help it--it's like an obsession. i have almost 70 pairs--all shapes and sizes from heels to flats and snow boots to flip flops. i wear about 10% of them on a regular basis, but i feel this sense of loss not having the perfect pair on wait for that exact outfit in my future.
we took a walk down ballard ave today after our kickball game (i wore my cute adidas cleats on the field, btw) and saw the big SALE! signs in going-out-of-business olivine. so i strolled in and immediately saw these frye boots under a 40% off sign. ahh! so there were four pairs left, one in my size. i tried them on and they fit perfectly. i was wearing sweat-shorts and an x-large seattle underdog league t shirt, hair all wild and dust all over me from the field. but i tried them on and the sales lady brought a dress over and told me to hold it up in front of me as a stand-in with the boots. she had me. she brought over a calculator and figured out the cost i would save by buying them. damn it! i was a goner.
so five minutes later, as beau returned from buying dog food at bark next door, i come out with a huge box in my hand. just earlier this morning i was talking about saving money for some new camera equipment and blah blah blah. how i need better gear to take it as serious as i want to. so i bought some boots instead. but as the shop-lady said, "they're timeless and will be in your closet for years. you won't regret this'"--i believe her.
