I woke up today in my favorite outfit: my nightgown which is white, has short sleeves, and buttons down the front. If I can get away with staying in my pajamas until noon, I will cheerfully do so. But today, since Alexarc was kind enough to drive downtown to buy me an Americano since we were out of coffee, I couldn't exactly respond by lazing the day away now, could I. I jumped in the shower as soon as he went to work, and threw on my summer uniform: tan shorts and a pink tee shirt and bare feet.
After cleaning the kitchen I went upstairs to purge my closet (ugh). So in the course of trying on stuff to see what still fit and what didn't, I changed into a silver cardigan with abalone buttons, which fit. The skirt I put on, a linen layered beige floor length eyelet thingy (which I once loved) did not fit and hung under my stomach at the top of my thighs (ew). But this is what I had on when Alex came home.
Then, Alex came home to go to WWU with me, primarily because he wanted Chik-Fil-A for lunch, and that's the only place in town he can get it. So I tossed the skirt into the giveaway pile and put on jeans and a pair of Mary Janes that I found at Value Village last week. I kept on the sweater. I went to WWU to buy my books and get my bus pass. (The university gives everybody a free bus pass!!)
The Mary Janes gave me blisters which I did not appreciate while hiking the 3 blocks down N. Garden Street, but I made it somehow. Alex went back to work and I went back to the purge. When Tristan came home I think I was wearing a sleveless wrap around sweater thingy (which fit) and no pants, but when I heard Gage and Tris come in the front door, I thew on the original pink tee shirt and the jeans from outfit #2.
After Gage went home, I wanted to return the crappy lamp that I was dumb enough to buy at Big Lots yesterday. This is because the knob broke while Alex was drunkenly trying to tease me with a strobe light routine while I visited with Holly last night. (He swears that this was a production defect.) So I put on some brown rubber flip flops that I "acquired" from my cousins, Robin and Matt, in Chico a few months ago. They bought them for their boys to wear in the creek but the shoes were too small. They fit me perfectly and I'll be damned if they're not now the comfiest shoes I have.
Now that I've bored you with the ridiculous adventures of a middle aged mom's midsummer thrift store K-Mart cast-off clothing changes, I'm going to put on my favorite outfit again. Except this time I'm excited because after the closet purge, I also did my mending and sewed up the strap of a shift style nightgown that I haven't been able to wear for over five years. On account of the strap being broke and everything. It's white with little flowers.
