I’ve had this really disgusting cold for the past few days, and happily it seems to be on its last leg. One of the more frustrating symptoms of this cold was that my ears were really blocked up, and I couldn’t hear anything. Throughout much of yesterday and the day before, I had the exhilarating sensation of my ears occasionally popping, and I enjoyed walking around with amplified hearing.
Unfortunately, although my right ear seems to be fine now, there’s still a distinct blockage in my left ear. I can’t hear out of it, and it’s getting kind of painful. I tried sleeping my right side so that maybe the left side would unblock, but that didn’t work, I make those terrible faces people make on airplanes to make their ears pop, but that isn’t working, and Sophie suggested sticking an unfolded paperclip in my ear, and I think that would destroy my eardrum. My newest technique is to just jump up and down while making terrible airplane faces, but nothing yet.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be grateful. ‘Cause it’s starting to drive me more than a little insane. And I look really stupid jumping up and down with my mouth wide open.
