il pleut
It's been raining in Paris for the last week. Paris in the rain is not a romantic thing, dispel your allusions! Due to my usual inability to pack sensibly/have sensible clothes, ALL my shoes let in water. I think I'm starting to develop trench foot. The other day I tried to go out to buy some sensible boots for rain walking, and ended up with...the most beautiful SUEDE boots in the world. This is slightly unfortunate, especially as I'm living on 25 euros a week...however they were on sale...Anyway, I'm off out to see if I can buy some waterproof shoes for 5 euros.
In other news...today at the market I saw another au pair girl, complete with list (in french) and hesitant French accent, at the fruit stall. I think she was English, but I couldn't remember how to say 'you are english?' for some reason...vous etes Anglais? it is apparently but as usual the French failed me at the crucial time. That was quite exciting, anyway, and maybe if she's there next week I might actually speak to her! Thrilling times. Also the market was a success this week, after two weeks of buying stupidly large quantities of things and buying the wrong thing, this week I managed to actually buy what she wanted. Hurrah. Also the french for Pink Lady apples is Pink Lady. There really is nothing like living in a country to grasp the language...!
