Why I miss campus and working on the Eastside SUCKS

Dec 05, 2008 13:42

I just received the following from the UW English Department.

I wanna go!!!!!!!!! (Yes; I already saw a good portion of this collection four years ago during a class, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see them again. I mean, unless you get to spend oodles of time in the old country/ies, how often do you get to see centuries' old manuscripts in the US? Huh? Really????? *Stoopid baby country*)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know this is short notice, but I would like to invite you to a
manuscript exhibition today. Head over at 3pm this afternoon to the
library to see some cool examples of manuscripts that are hundreds of
years old. Sandra Kroupa will be showing us medieval manuscripts, early
printed books, and some facsimiles of works.

Thought other English majors might be interested.

Directions to the Maps/Special Collections Classroom:

Go to the north lobby of the Allen Library [the one with the crows
hanging above
your head]. This is the ground floor. If you come in the Suzzallo West
Entrance walk completely through the building and you will walk into the
Allen
addition. You will be on the 1st floor of the lobby with the crows at eye
level. Take the elevator in that lobby to the basement. As you get of the
elevator, turn to your right and walk a short way to the hallway going
off to
the right. Part way down this hallway is the classroom door, the first
door on
your right. It has a sign that juts out from the wall. Just to the
right of
the door as you enter the room, there are two closets to leave coats, packs,
etc.
