Sunburnt, Slightly Deaf and Happy
I went to Shamrockfest today in DC and had a blast! I don't think I've ever seen that much green in one place before :D
The day started off nicely with breakfast at Ihop with chanel19and Kat. Chanel was a love and took me to the metro station and picked me back up. The event was in the parking lot of RFK stadium, and I have to say that they had it organized very well. I didn't stay for the whole thing due to being out in the sun far too long, but I saw some awesome bands and groups for the 4 hours that I was there. Scythian (pronounced scion) was freaking fantastic! I bought two of their cd's and listened happily to them all the way home. flamingcarrot, I will burn them for you as I know you'll love them. You just have to promise me to not drive your wife nuts with them. :D
There were pub games that included the best male and female kilts. I of course had to offer my input on the male kilt contest. Especially after one of the kilties decided to do a twirl without a sporran on. He was quite obviously a Scotsman. And impressive as well. (snicker)
I'm not much of a beer drinker but it was great fun to watch everybody else get toasted. I was hit upon by no less than three men under the age of 25 and one very drunk deaf woman who kept tying to sign to me while I was waiting in line for the bathroom. That was one of my more surreal experiences I have to say. One of the guys that I just mentioned came up to me from behind, turned me around and snogged the living daylights out of me. He was drunk as well, but it brought me back to my days of working at Renaissance faires where random kissing is commonplace. You just kind of go along with it, enjoy it for what it is, grin at each other like loons and then walk away. I know I enjoyed it. (G)
So now I'm home and wrestling with dialog on my third chapter of Tomorrow and Yesterday. It's not helping that I have my shiny flst in easy reach along with some truly spectacular Dr. Who fic by orianna, solarflare, wendymrand rallalon tonight :b I'm thinking that I should probably just go to bed and try again in the morning.
