He glanced over to her, silently staring as she danced with her husband. He saw her throw back her head and laugh happily as D.L. whispered her things. Things Peter had no interest in knowing. He only wanted to cherish her laugh and her body as she danced. Things he probably shouldn’t want to… at least not in the way he was doing so. He should be wanting to cherish her words, her laugh, her body in a platonic way and not in a more then a friend way.
He glanced down to his drink that sat full in front of him when Matt and Audrey returned back from the dance floor. He wasn’t thirsty or hungry, but he had gotten it so that the others didn’t realize he was acting weird. Though he doubted they haven’t noticed. Since they met up and all joined up to stop Sylar they all had gotten be pretty close friends. Claire often joked that they were like the show Friends, only with more people and superpowers.
As Audrey and Matt left to head over to the bar, he returned his glance over to where Niki was dancing with D.L. He wished he could be where D.L. was… in her arms. Holding her, supporting her, kissing her, dancing with her… and it was driving him crazy. The only person who knew about his infatuation with Niki Sanders was Claire, the cheerleader from Odessa, Texas that he saved. She tried to tell him it was alright to fall for Niki, but he never believed her even though he knew she was right. It wasn’t like he had fallen in love with her on purpose.
Peter turned his head away from the happy couple, silently gulping down the rest of the alcohol. He stood up, putting down money for his drink. He didn’t feel like hanging out with the rest of the happy couples that made up their group of friends. Besides Micah, he was the only one that was alone romantically. Nathan had Heidi, Matt had Audrey, Hiro had Charlie, Claire had Zach, Mohinder had Eden, Isaac had Simone, and to his great disappointment D.L. had Niki.
With one last glance to Niki, who happened to glance over to him at that moment as well, Peter half-smiled and half-frowned at her before he left the club to head back to where they were all living.
All he wished he could do was go back there and sweep her off her feet and take her far away from D.L. and live happily ever after.
