They were best friends.
Despite the fact that they fought like cats and dogs about everything, and had two different personalities - her sneaky adventurous sarcastic lazy self and his genius nerdy nice caring self, they couldn’t be more in love with each other than they were now. They balanced each other out more so than any other person they had a relationship with. And they tried to… Tried to have relationships with other people - other magical beings as well - but it never worked out. It was as if it was impossible for them to be with any other significant person than each other.
They were in such a synced relationship that it took their parents and their other best friend, Harper, to realize that they were a couple before Alex and Justin even realized they were one… or realized that it was alright for them to have a relationship. That it wouldn’t damage their friendship or hurt anyone else’s feelings if they got together.
Even their magic told them before anyone else that they had belong to each other, for other wizards weren’t supposed to be able to use someone else’s wands without difficulty, without it feeling as if the spell was hurting the caster as well. Even married wizards often had trouble with holding their significant other’s wand, no matter how many years and trust and love they had for each other. However, Alex and Justin could use each other’s wands as much as they wanted or needed and never feel the strain or pain that is described in books and by their wizard school classmates. Ever since they met, they were able to use each other’s wands…

It was as if they were made for each other.
