Okay, some random person decided to take offense at my god statement in my last post. They believed they needed to tell me that "God and fun are not mutually exclusive". I have some things to say about that, in case this random person decides to snoop on my journal again

I didn't realize that was such a touchy subject.
Though, I hardly think it qualifies as "religious crap"
Anyway, I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience with church when you were younger.
That said, I only have 2 replies to your post:
1) My God was in those places. My God was especially in those places.
2) Appreciating the grandeur of nature is perhaps the closest I've ever felt to (my) God. And, the way I see it, I'm supposed to be as human as I possibly can -- fuck ups and all. Being human isnt about only experiencing the "nice" and "honorable" parts of life. It's about experiencing real pain and suffering too, even that caused by my own actions. Anyway, I don't think you're going to hell for acting human. I think those people who kid themselves into thinking that they're somehow better than the rest of us because they're "faithful" are worse off than you and I. We are human -- how can it be that we are supposed to be anything else? I think (my) God agrees.
If anything, my (apparently incendiary) post was out of disgust for those "Christians" who propagate the idea that its either be perfect (and by perfect they mean boring), or go to hell. I don't know what Bible they're reading, or what god they've been talking to, but I think they're 100% wrong. Everything I've learned about God says they're wrong too. Ugh, I hate this infernal human tendency to declare that everything is black and white and then demand us all to take sides.
Anyway, sorry for not making my identity know, sorry for inadvertantly offending you.
Maggie
ps- us christian theology majors can be open minded. I like to consider myself such, though I'm very aware of my own blind spots (translation: I'm not perfect at it, but hell, I try).
