Ah life

So I see I haven't written in a while. Life's been, well, life-like. As most of you know - yeah, all five of you - I spend my weekends in NYC. I have a wacky relationship with an older guy that doesn't really lend itself to my divulging intimate details about it online or even in person. Suffice it to say there is a lot of constant inner monologue and coming to terms with things. I really ought to write about it in a non-public place because I'm always coming to conclusions and then forgetting them/changing them.

I can say that we did have a very pleasant weekend at his friend's house out on Long Island. They live in a gorgeous house that they built in a town called Green Point. They have a huge back yard in which we (they) roasted a pig. It took all freaking day, but the wait was sooooo worth it. There is nothing in the world like crispy pig skin. Yum yum yum. Of course there was a ridiculous amount of food. We invited Manolis' assistant to come because he kicks ass at making sushi, so we had lots of homemade sushi as well as lotsa Greek salad, kondo souvli (like souvlaki only on a bigger stick :p), sausage, bbq quail, etc. So much tasty tasty food.

Coming home today was annoying because of all the barely-Irish/non-Christian people dressed in green with sparkly hats and tacky shirts ("Don't touch my shamrocks" with not-so-strategically placed shamrocks, "I'm not Irish but kiss me anyway") and generally acting like assholes. I don't know why I find it any more offensive than Christmas or Valentine's Day (most everyone forgets that's a saint's day anyway) - maybe I was just in a bad mood this morning, or jealous that I wasn't being festive or something. At least I accomplished what I meant to today, which isn't saying much because it was just one phone call and one e-mail, but it's something, which is more than the nothing I've done most other days while at home. Go me. I realized I needed my w-2 from GNC to do my tax return doodad. I had forgotten I was still there at the beginning of last year. It seems so long ago. I'm also considering looking for harp jobs in NYC. I have a (n at least temporary) home base up there and there's a hell of a lot of money in Manhattan. One hospital a while ago expressed interest in the BSH program, so maybe they'll go for one little harper. Here's hoping.
