your internet argument is retarded

And I'm sick with a cold AGAIN, in what 3 months? Just how often do cold strains mutate because I seem to contract all of them.

-------------

That aside. Last night the big hit-the-fan, hold-the-press news was one of my favorite Vocaloid producers AVtechno!! killed all of his stuff on niconicoDouga. Dramaking or something serious? After Clash sends me his blog and I spend some time translating it, I find out a song he released months and months ago DYE, has been plagiarized recently by boy band KAT-TUN with a new song called Never x Over which hit #1 in the Oricon charts (which is the USA equivalent to the Billboard top 100). Being emotionally shocked, AV deleted everything (though he still has a lot of things on his youtube which I didn't know existed).

Here are both songs layered so you can hear the obvious plagiarism. Beat, chords, tone, just about perfectly match.

What upset me the most is seeing all these boards with weeabo KAT-TUN fangirls giving the response, "Ew is Vocaloid even music? Anyways I like this new song and it's better than what they've been releasing".

It makes me want to bash my head against a wall.

Then I find out days ago a Gazette band member tweeting about how vocaloid isn't real music and he doesn't understand why it's so popular because Hatsune Miku isn't real, she's a mechanical voice.

The dumb on the internet makes me numb.

Let me clear things:

♦ Which sounds better to you doesn't even matter, I can care less if you can't stand to listen to DYE and you've been following KAT-TUN for years. Plagiarism is plagiarism.

♦ AVtechno!! fans are not demanding blood from the members of KAT-TUN, and are actually pretty sympathetic when it comes to them, it is the composer of the song that is the guilty party. We just think it's sad he had to stoop as low to take from a popular but relatively unknown in general music society composer/musician.

♦ Vocaloid voices are real, recorded from real people. They record every tone and pitch in the Japanese language and add it into the Vocaloid program for users to utilize. Every vocaloid comes from an actual voice actor or singer, for example Gacktpoid is actually Gackt's voice. Your point that vocaloids are not real voices is invalid.

♦ The whole "onoes Vocaloid will replace uz! What sort of validation do I have for being an actual musician?!? WOE IS ME" is retarded. It's amazing what producers can make with the Vocaloid software, it blows my mind, BUT you can't hear vocaloids in concert. Unless it's the producers putting on a mix-concert (like kz livetunes did) or an orchestration version or something. Real live concerts from actual musicians is what people look for in bands or artists. Listening to the music offhand is great but people really look for the experience of hearing music played live. This is something Vocaloid can never take away. Aside from that, I think of Vocaloid like I think of Nine Inch Nails: Trent Reznor IS his band, just as every producer that makes vocaloid music IS their entire band (including whatever vocaloid they use). The Vocaloid software gives people the freedom to make their own music without having to hunt down people to collaborate with. And what stems from a popular song BRINGS in that collaboration. What I see from producers, from just plain ARTISTS in the Vocaloid community is a mesh of collaboration, of tremendous support, of a giant outpouring of MUSIC. So much creativity that even I have a hard time keeping up. I truly wish something like this could take off in the US.

♦ Real voices still sound better than computerized ones. Granted, Vocaloids have come a long ways since Meiko or Kaito (both of whom I have yet to find a song I can bear listening to), but I'd still rather listen to a normal singer over a Vocaloid. Then why do I listen to Vocaloids? Simple: Music. What producers make can be truly awesome and I think a lot ought to be paid professionals. I think it's brilliant that many of them, AVtechno!! included, produce their own albums and sell really well over amazon or itunes even. I can find AVtechno on my itunes, but not BUCK-TICK? How crazy is that.

♦ Yes, in fact, I am an otaku. Over a lot of things actually. Don't get me started over Neil Gaiman. Or Snape. Or Star Wars. Or Escaflowne. Or Octoberween.

♦ I would die if I hear Atsushi cover a vocaloid song or become a Vocaloid. Seriously. Its name would appropriately be Sex-poid.

(that last one may or may not be fact)

end rant.
