A man should live by a code of some sort...many speak of honor, Goodness and light...but live by no personel code. Mine is as follows.
1 I will develop my life for the greater good.
I understand my life is less important then the good of the whole, my aimes and ambitions are for the betterment of all...in my case this means The Order of the Graal, Monsalvat and restoring Lyonesse.
2 I will place character above riches, and concern for others above personal wealth.
Money and it persuit is better left to merchants, it is unbecoming a warrior to seek wealth for it's own sake. A man's deeds are more telling then his finery or goods. There are many Kings who are little better then bandits, and many bandits who would make good kings were it not for fickle fate.
3 I will never boast, but cherish humility instead.
A man's deeds should speak for themselves. If a man must thump his chest and scream to the wind of their Greatness, then Greatness is what they lack.
4 I will speak the truth at all times, and forever keep my word.
A man who cannot be trusted is not really a man at all.
5 I will defend those who cannot defend themselves.
Does more really need to be said here?
6 I will honor and respect women.
Women are the true treasures of our realm, a man who mistreats women is little better then a rabid animal and should be treated as such.
7 I will uphold justice by being fair to all.
A Knight must always look to what is just...the Law is not always Just, and Justice is not always lawful.
8 I will be faithful in love and loyal in friendship.
In my opinion perhaps the most important point in this code, if a man be false to Lovers or friends, he is in truth wothless and better treated as dead.
9 I will abhor scandals and gossip-neither partake nor delight in them.
This is better left to fish wives then noble Knights.
10 I will be generous to the poor and to those who need help.
What more need be said here...everyone at some point can use a hand...if you've the means, offer that hand.
11 I will forgive when asked, that my own mistakes will be forgiven.
To err (they say) is human, to Forgive divine...the key here is forgivness must be sought before it can be given.
12 I will live my life with courtesy and honor from this day forward.
These are the rules I try to live my life by, and how I see them..perhaps others might try to gain some insight into my mind by them (should this journel come to light) but I hope should they read it, they might take something positive away from it.
