Name: Meagan (
moirariordan)
Age: 19
Where did you find out about us? One of the HHr LJ comm.s, I can't remember exactly which one
What Wizarding World profession/occupation would you choose and why? Probably an Auror. Mostly because I'd much rather be involved in the war and know what's going on than have to wait around knowing nothing.
What Hogwart’s subject would you like to teach and why? Charms, because it seems like the easiest subject to teach...
What would your animagus form be, if you had a say in the matter, and why? I'd probably be an owl. I love to read, I'd like to think that I'm intelligent, and if I didn't have to go to school, I'd be nocturnal.
What HP character do you identify with most and why? Hermione Granger, because I've always been the one who corrects people's grammar, who checks out the huge books for 'light reading'. I know what it feels like to be that person.
What do you think you would see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised? Someone standing next to me who'll always love and take care of me.
If you were could invent one spell/potion/charm, what would it do, how would you use it, and what would it be called? Prolungare, a spell to not really freeze time, but make it seem longer, and I would use it to have more time to write.
If given the chance, would you put your name in the Goblet of Fire to compete as a Triwizard Champion? Why or why not? No, because the main reason for putting your name in the Goblet is for glory, and it's always been my viewpoint that glory is not a thing to lose life over.
If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus? It would turn into my horrible grandmother, who would forever say things to me like, "you're going to end up alone!" and "what do you need writing for? It's not even a real career!" and "Go to law school and stop wasting your life!" Ugh, it's like she would spend time thinking about which things to attack that would make me the most insecure. EDIT: Whoops. She'd probably turn into a small kitten that could only bite at my ankles, and that I could pick up by the scruff of the neck and throw into a carrying cage somewhere.
What do you look for in a friend? Loyalty and respect.
What trait most annoys you about other people? When they have to be right all the time.
What trait most annoys you about yourself? ...that I have to be right all the time. Heh.
What do you think are your top four abilities or qualities? My loyalty to my loved ones, my compassion, my imagination and my intelligence.
What do you think are your top four weaknesses or worst qualities? My pride, my stubborness, my vanity, my insecurity
You were just given a pensieve as a gift, what memories would you choose to place in it and why? The memories of my friends and family that I cherish, because those are the memories that give me strength when I need it.
What are your feelings on the Dark Arts? Are you for it, against it, or indifferent about it? I'm against it to the point of hurting people with it. I believe that evil in the world is necessary so that we can realize and enjoy the good, and also that there are shades of grey everywhere. So sometimes a technically Dark spell can help you. It's all about action versus consequence.
Which character from Harry Potter is your favorite and why? Hermione, mostly for the same reasons why I identify with her. I also love her because I don't think that when JK wrote her, she realized the depth that she was wrote for her. You have to look for it, but it's there.
Which character from Harry Potter is your LEAST favorite and why (You may not say Voldemort, Umbridge, or any known Death Eaters since they are written with the intention of dislike)? Albus Dumbledore. From my viewpoint, he is very manipulative. While I recognize that he cares about Harry and all of the characters at Hogwarts, and I recognize his importance, I just don't like the actions he takes. I feel like he caused Harry more pain than he prevented, what with sending him to the Dursleys, withdrawing from him fifth year, keeping the prophecy from him, and etc.
As a student at Hogwarts, how would you spend your free time? Probably at the library reading.
Which class do you think you would do well in? Why? Probably one of the more 'thinking' classes, like Ancient Runes or History of Magic. I'm good at the studying/note taking thing, rather than the practical practice thing.
Which class do you think you wouldn't do well in and why? Potions. It seems like a lot of measuring, memorizing and math to me, and I suck at numbers and figuring.
If you were on your house Quidditch team what position would you LIKE to play and why? Seeker, because I have crappy hand-eye coordination, so I wouldn't be good at darting around, trying to make goals or guarding the goals.
If you were on your house Quidditch team what position do you think you SHOULD play and why? I don't think I should be on the Quidditch team, to tell you the truth. But if given no choice, probably Seeker, yeah. I'm good at blocking out the rest of the world and concentrating on one thing (how else am I able to write fanfiction while living in a dorm?) so I'd be able to ignore the game and look for the Snitch.
Which of the Harry Potter books was your favorite and why? Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban This book was my favorite because of the way that JKR was able to suck her readers in. She made us gullible. At the beginning, we believed wholeheartedly that Sirius Black was evil and Peter Pettigrew was an innocent victim. Then, 150 pages later, she completely switched our perspective, took us off our guard, all the while making it seem realistic and plausible. That's a hard thing to do.
Which Harry Potter book was your least favorite and why? Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince I hated this book, because it seemed as if JKR stopped trying. It read like a bad fanfiction to me, and a lot of the plotlines came out of nowhere (-cough-Harry/Ginny-cough-). There were some good points to it (the Horcrux plotline--possible set up for Harry's death--Harry himself is a Horcrux?), but mostly it seemed like JKR isn't writing to write anymore, she's just writing to get the damn series over with already.
Which Harry Potter movie was your favorite and why? Goblet of Fire. I think the newest one will always be my favorite, because the older the actors get, the better they act, plus there are advancements with CGI and special effects and such with each movie.
Which Harry Potter movie was your least favorite and why? Sorceror's Stone, for the same reasons.
If you could change ONE thing in the series, what would it be and why? The Harry/Ginny plotline. Not because I'm a HHr shipper, actually because it just didn't fit. If I had my way, then Harry wouldn't be with anyone.
I think it is safe to say that Harry Potter is full of symbolism, so to go along with that, please click on the specified links and follow the directions.

Pick the color that most appeals to you and copy and paste what it says about you:
Black
Black is the color of the night, and of "evil." Black can also be a color of elegance or class (such as a black-tie only event, and black evening gowns.) Black can also represent ideas such as power, sexuality, sophistication, formality, wealth, mystery, fear, evil, unhappiness, depth, style, sadness, remorse, anger, and mourning. Black can also represent a lack of color, the primordial void, emptiness. It can also mean sorrow or mourning, in the Christian tradition of wearing black to funerals.
According to Henry Dreyfus, Black, sumi, is the color of mystery and solemnity; the color of the night. Black expresses the depths of the unknown, and encourages the imagination of a different world from that of daylight realities. Used by itself, black can represent bad luck or misfortune.
Do you agree?
Yes, in some ways. It was the color that appealed to me the most.
Go to this site: Symbolism: Elements
Pick the element that appeals to you most and copy and paste what it says about you:
As stated in the Intro, water is an element usually associated with girls and women. Water can also be used to show love or concern. Characters and things that are shown to have a 'watery' quality to them usually have a blue-colored theme to them. Blue because of the primarily blue color of water. Characters that have a 'watery' quality to them are more likely to 'go with the flow', but can also show very chaotic responses as well.
Water is frequently associated with women because it is theorized that life first came from water (new life comes from women), without water every living thing would die (without women, a species would die), it can take many forms and shapes (as can women), and religiously women are tied to water (such as the Greek parthanon goddess Aphrodite who was born of the sea foam). This can be shown by the female character being a swimmer, with the girls touching still lakes or ponds, or with a water colored costume, or with a preponderance of water pokemon. Water can also be shown to show a female character being scared and frightened about the changes happening to her; physically, mentally, and emotionally - that is water has no fixed shape or form, and is in a state of constant flux, just as girls are as they go through adolescence. This can be shown by having the girl panic when she gets into a pool or lake, or be afraid of water. In addition, water can be used as an erotic tool. Hair and skin look much different when wet; and when you normally see a girl with dry hair and skin, it can add a bit of eroticism to her if her hair is wet. Clothes also fold and adhere differently when they are wet.
(It was really long already, so I left out the last paragraph)
Do you agree? Yes, I've always been attuned to water, and I've always felt more at peace whenever I'm close to a sea or ocean.

Let’s do a little word association here (you may go over one word, but please keep it concise). When you hear the following words you immediately think…
Courage: bravery
Loyalty: important
Intelligence: brain
Ambition: evil
Name a person, alive, dead or even a character from a movie or book, that you most admire. Why do you admire this person? John Lennon. He spent his life trying to make the world a better place, trying to make people realize how fruitless and pointless this whole buisness of violence is. If I made just a minute portion of the difference that he did, my life would have meaning.
If you could own any magical creature, what would it be? A unicorn. They are gentle and loving creatures, and I believe that I could handle one and protect one.
What is the worst quality you believe that a person, any person, can possess? Selfishness. Only caring about yourself doesn't make sense when you are one person versus the billions that live in the world.
Which house do you feel you belong in and why? Um...Ravenclaw? Because of my 'bookish nature'? I don't know for sure, that's my best guess.
What house do you think you WOULDN'T belong in and why? Slytherin. I'm not ambitious at all, and I believe in helping others over myself.
Why do you want to be part of this community? Will you remain active in the sub-communities and voting after you've been stamped in a house? Yes. I probably won't be around as much as some people, but I will help out as much as I can.
Also, a couple questions, on the voting for people to be in certain houses thing, how would I do that? Would I just comment on their application post for whichever house I feel they belong in, or should I email somebody? Also, do you want me to vote on the applications of the other staff? Questions answered. I feel obvious and stupid. Heh.
