Sallyverse, Take... 5? 6?

Feb 21, 2007 19:36

I'll probably have a few entries later today, babbling about Veronica Mars (amazing), Civil War 7 (better than I expected, though not great), and all the other comics I'm going to read today.

But right now, I have to recommend this to the flist. It's another chapter in what I am officially calling the Sallyverse, formerly known as the "Cap and ( Read more... )

I am torn on the mutant issue! I would be YAY if she was perfectly normal, you know? But if she was a mutant, she could be sneaking out of the house like Barbara Gordon did as Batgirl, you know? Being a superhero on the sly?

oh.

oh.

Okay, see, she isn't a mutant, she WAS perfectly normal, and that's part of what led her to the hard-partying socialite phase, you know? And then she gets out of rehab and goes to a Respectable Womens' College under a different name and is Very Serious and is Getting Her Life In Order, and gets exposed to a McGuffin and gets some sort of power.

And, she doesn't know how to tell her dads, so she sneaks around being a superhero, and when they come visit her at school there's all these perfect Ginger-Rogers-style comedy scenes, with hiding the outfits and mistaken assumptions?

And they think she's been sneaking her boyfriend, her new one, that nice boy, Simon, into the dorm, except Tony notices Sally's roommate Kaylee is perhaps a little overly-solicitous . . .

...

I LOVE YOU.

What powers should she have? And what's her code name? I'm tempted to make her my personal invisible/intangible/slightly telekinetic Mary Sue, Poltergeist, but if you or someone else can come up with something better, I'm all for it.

...I may have to look at pictures of Michelle Trachtenberg and make a "Sally Stark-Rogers" icon.

I think it needs to be something her dads would underestimate, so that when they DO find out, they totally overreact.

I think her dorm NEEDS to be like the boarding house in the movie Stage Door.

Which you need to rent/netflix/acquire in some way that perhaps doesn't bear looking at too closely, it matters not to me.

::nods::

Oh yes.

She has something like, minor healing and can levitate things about as large as a guniea pig, or something, and she HAS a pet guniea pig, named Wanda after one of Steve's ex's, and she demonstrates by lifting Wanda out of the cage and Tony suggests snarkily that she, what, lob rodents at her foes? And Sally bursts into tears because Tony usually sticks up for her, and Steve calls him a bitch.

I un-flocked it :)

And I'm totally going to start manipping pics. Who is cast as Steve? (and Tony is you aren't sold on Downey Jr?)

She has to be a super hero. Mutant...? Hmmmm.

You'll have to ask likeadeuce about Tony - I'm not sure if she's sold on RDJ or not. As for Cap, I've been wondering that a lot myself, actually. In old comics he looks a lot like Robert Redford, but I can never find good pictures of him. Brad Pitt is too cliched, and I can't think of any other rugged blonde actors I really like. Do you have suggestions?

*points at resolute's comments* I'm liking this potential version of her powers.

I'm trying to think of an actor who makes a beard like that work --

Still thinking.

Maybe somebody in a period movie? I'm neutral on RDJ in general but I think he'd have to get made up a certain way to look like Tony, and I haven't seen any convincing pictures yet.

Also, interestingly enough, Tony's often drawn looking rather ethnic-looking (as opposed to the super-Aryan Cap) though he has blue eyes and a perfectly Anglo-Saxon name. (Though his mother was named Maria, so maybe Spanish or Italian blood?)

I always figured Tony's mother was Italian, simply because her name is Maria and I don't actually know any Anthonys who aren't Italian (and I'm from Jersey, so... I know a lot of them). I'm guessing his father was the WASP-y/German one.

Michelle Trachtenberg as Sally makes me think Sally/Iceman, since MT went out with Shawn Ashmore. @.@ [is sure this is not a good idea]

O.o

Cap and Tony are making Bobby stay far, far away from their daughter. (Besides, we all know he likes boys better anyway.)

But now I'm in a Sally/Jake from the Animorphs place. That's a little better.

XD XD XD This is too true. I mean, failed straight relationships, random gay guys crushing on him... It's about time they just made Bobby gay. Or bi. Or something.

>.< [doesn't remember Jake] I read a couple of the books, but that wasn't my series.
