Hi everyone,
So I've really just been playing around on here so far, trying to find some lovely people to follow, trying to figure out how things work and how it is different from LJ, etc. I realized I hadn't created an introductory post, and that I probably should, for anyone who might find this blog by search interests. This way you can get to know me a little. :)
A few things about me: I'm 38, married, and a professor of English and gender studies. I'm a pagan, more specifically Wiccan. I am cis and pan/demi. I've created an account here thanks to the Tumblr blowup, and while I will stay over there for as long as I feel I can (I'm not optimistic about where they are going with the site, but we'll see), I'm looking forward to having a smaller community over here and maybe having a closer group.
As far as fandom goes, the biggest fandom niche in my life is definitely Klaine and Glee. I loved the show, I love my boys, and I got to be part of a wonderful fandom community that means a great deal to me. Many of you are over here as well, which makes me so happy! :)
However, I love lots and lots of popular culture things, so here are some other types of posts you might see:
- Newsies (both the 1992 film and the newer Broadway show)
- Bandstand
- Broadway musicals in general; I love them.
- Marvel and MCU (Avengers 4 is going to kill me, it really is)
- Sherlock/Sherlock Holmes (which is to say, both BBC and ACD)
- The West Wing
- The Newsroom
- All things Aaron Sorkin, really; the man is a genius.
- Chronicles of Narnia (and if anyone is looking for the ecumenical and liberal side of Narnia fandom, I can point you to some wonderful people and wonderful fic here on DW)
- All things Jane Austen and Shakespeare
- Anne of Green Gables and Anne With an E
- YA literature of all stripes
- Content related to the LGBTQ+ community
There are probably more, but those are the big things that come to mind at the moment! For those of you who are more shipping-oriented, here we go:
- Klaine
- Javid, Newsbians, David/Jack/Sarah (In a closed polyamorous V, thank you; absolutely no incest here), and David/Katherine. Oh, and also Sprace or Spot/Crutchie.
- Donny/Julia, Donny/Julia/Michael, and I've grown fond of Jimmy/Johnny, though I'd also love to see some Jimmy/Davy.
- Steggy, Steve/Peggy/Bucky (aka World War Threesome), Jane/Thor (do they have a ship name?), Pepper/Tony. Also, I love the familial/paternal dynamic between Tony and Peter. Oh, and Fitzsimmons, and Coulson and May. But I also just love thinking about all of these people, and doing meta, and watching them all try to stay together as a family.
- Johnlock and Mollstrade (with the occasional bit of Mystrade in there, too)
- Josh and Donna, Josh and Donna, Josh and Donna. Don't we all? Seriously. Always. Fandom has also made me very fond of Josh and Sam, and I've always loved CJ and Danny.
- Mackenzie and Will, Don and Sloane.
- I don't . . . really ship things in Narnia? There are some wonderful OCs out there, and some incredible stories about the Pevensies with various people/beings in Narnia, but this fandom is really more about the familial dynamics and the moral questions, for me.
- Anne and Gilbert, obviously. ;)
I write fic about some of these, though I am a notoriously slow writer thanks to my insanely busy life. However, when I finish a chapter of something, you'll see a post about it here, and
my AO3 is here.
There is your short crash course in fandom me! I look forward to meeting all of you, if I don't know you already. :)
