The distance is what you make it.

Well, I didn't see this one coming.

Yesterday my LPO told me to go home just before noon because I looked like death warmed over. After stopping at the gas station, I decided that I should go to the Nex and stock up on some cold medication to fight off the plague with some more force. Just as I stepped away from my parked car, a truck passed me. I saw the driver out of the corner of my eye and my first thought was, "That looked a lot like Chris..."

Well, you'll never guess who slammed on the breaks and yelled my name out of his driver side window. It actually was Chris. The same Chris that I was head over heels for and hadn't seen for over a year and a half.

He parked his truck and got out and gave me a hug. Things were a little awkward from there, for obvious reasons--he was in uniform, I thought my sickness was making me hallucinate, etc. I gave him my phone number when I was leaving since he lost his old phone, and I wasn't expecting him to call, but hoped that he would. There were certain things that needed to be discussed.

Later in the evening, he did call and we got pretty caught up. He's been out in the field a lot since he got back from Iraq and has been wanting to see me. In fact, he said that he would scope out every blonde girl he saw on base just to see if it was me. We both got lucky that we did run into each other when we did--he's transferring to another base in San Diego next week. And, to make a long story short, we've made plans to go out on Friday. Chris has already told me to prepare myself because he's going to give me a big kiss when he sees me, whether I'm sick or not. So, I'm finally going to either A) get some sort of happy ending, or B) get the closure I've been wanting so that I can move on.

My co-workers were pestering me all day about what brought on my good mood, but I'm very tight-lipped when it comes to my personal life. That didn't stop them from trying to guess though. I mean, really, it was exciting for them. It's not everyday that I walk around whistling. I called and told Lisa (my old roommate who knows Chris from when we were dating the first time) all about what happened and she wants the details from our "date" as soon as it's over. I also told one of the girls on my shift because I needed to share my good news with someone and I know she won't share any details unless I give her permission.

So, yay! I'm a little excited about this. Friday is going to be a slightly stressful day though, with my Blue Jacket of the Year board in the morning and this big event happening in the evening. I'm hoping both work out in my favor :)

hope, surprise, dating, bjoy, chris
