Ten men waiting for me at the door? Send one of them home, I'm tired.

All forseen problems aside, I'm glad to be back in San Diego. While I was waiting for my ride (my old supervisor), two Navy guys approached me at the airport. They saw I had a seabag with me and asked if I had just gotten out of boot camp. Hah, defintely not. We chatted for a while and both of the guys were really friendly and polite. One of the two--the very well dressed and good looking one--asked me for my phone number, and when he forgot to save it when they were leaving, he walked all the way back to get it from me again. They even asked if I needed a ride since they were there picking up one of there friends, but I said I had one. If only I would have known that my said ride was stuck in traffic on the way to the airport. I ended up taking a cab that cost me $45 and got back fifteen minutes before midnight. Speaking of which, I rung in the New Year by myself again. Oh, well, there's always next year.

I'm back in the swing of things with having watch early tomorrow morning. Since it's a day off for everyone else, I'll probably just be reading a book at my post. I can hardly contain my excitement. I've read two novels in the last couple weeks, and I only have four more books out here with me to read. I need to buy more or cave in and join the library and not highlight books anymore. I don't know if I can make that sacrifice!

Oh, by the way, I have some bad news. Even though Maxtor sent me a replacement power cord for my external hard drive, it still doesn't turn on. Thus, something must be wrong internally. I'll have to see if they have a Plan B, which will probably result in me sending it in to get fixed. And they better fix it, or I will be absolutely crushed. Seriously. I'm dying without my music!

A couple days before I went on leave was my adventure at the Wild Animal Park with Curtis. I must admit, when he arrived at my door with a dozen red roses after calling and saying he was running a little behind, I was a tad worried. You don't get roses when you're just hanging out with someone--at least, not in my experience. Regardless, we had a really fun day at the park and took lots of photos and afterwards we went and got ice cream at Cold Stone. We also watched Thank You for Smoking at his apartment and drove over to Starbucks for something hot to drink. We wandered around the mall for a little while and then drove to the movie theater by my apartment where we got tickets for Happy Feet. While we were waiting for the movie to start, we walked around Wal-Mart for lack of anything else to do and he got me a plastic friendship ring out of the 25 cent machine, haha. We enjoyed the movie, even if we were both a little disappointed/confused by the ending. He may have been hoping for a goodnight kiss when I dropped him off, but he didn't get one.

Instead of going to lunch with Houston the next day, like my original plan was, I went along with Curtis to the airport to pick up one of his friend's parents. He'd never met them before, so he made a sign with their name on it. heh. I also went along with him when he went to pick up his dad at the airport around lunch time that day. He had warned me that his dad was going to ask a me a million questions, especially about my relationship with his son, but when dropping me off and walking me to my door, he said his dad had really held back. I was thankful.

PS - Until further notice, I'm still on a dating hiatus.
