Love for life and some hunger for popcorn
Happy Independence Day!
I went to a BBQ at Baer's place last night. It didn't really start until late, but I got there just after 7pm. We had steaks, burgers, and hotdogs--the usual. Sari and I were the only sober ones since we both had to drive--me back to base and her back to her place. So, we were both pretty bored the whole time. I'm going to the beach with her later on today and then I guess we're going to watch the fireworks somewhere tonight. I had tentative plans with John (the guy who took me apartment hunting, to the shooting range, and the movies on Saturday) to go see a movie with a couple of his friends and then see fireworks, but I kind of bailed. I feel like I'm leading him on, even though he knows that I'm sort of seeing someone. But he called me back a little while ago and said he's scratching all of his plans for the day anyway because he was tired--he had watch this morning.
So, yeah. Kind of an eventful weekend for me. I'm sort of glad that I've found some new "friends", but they're not really a group of people I fit in with all that well. Life's all about give and take though--gotta adapt to my surroundings, right? I'm always wearing my seatbelt of common sense, so this rollercoaster won't get me too shaken up, I'm sure.
I have watch on Thursday night. The mid-watch, which means middle of the night. 2230-0630. Ew. The only good things about that are: a) I get to wear utilities and not a dress uniform; b) there's a high possibility that I won't have to come into work at all on Friday; and c) I might get a leave work early tomorrow too. So, I'll just have to suffer with being extremely tired...and I am a closet insomniac anyway, so no worries there.
NOTE: I spent all day Sunday and half of yesterday making a JAG season 10/Harm and Mac mood theme for LJ. All I have left to do is add borders to all of the "emotions", save them all in an uploadable graphic format, finish the coding, and load it all onto LJ for everyone's enjoyment. Well, maybe just my enjoyment, since I know I'll be using it. :p
