[Background]

This story begins with a man who is having a dream about another world within the inner realms of his mind as he is on the edge of death. This dream world may look peaceful, it is not. The world is torn by the possibility of war between the two countries named Forte and Baroque and the man having this dream will connect all the pieces together to help the story reach its grand finale; his name is Frederic Francois Chopin.

Frederic was born on March 1st of 1810 and was known as the "poet of the piano" throughout his life up until he could no longer perform for audience because of his body developing the deadly disease that is tuberculosis. His home country is Poland, he was born and raised in the town of Żelazowa Wola until his family moved to the capital city of Warsaw. As a child, Frederic was like any boy in his youth-but also kept his manners and acted like he was part of the aristocracy since he did live in it due to the status of his father being a school teacher of a private school. Instead of doing average things that most boys would do, he did much more. He started playing recitals and concerts when he was a mere age of seven, also going to other countries to play for the nobility along with taking time to write his own compositions and do his schooling (when he wasn't working on these things however, he would find time to play with his sisters and friends). He was a little bit of a prankster and talented with mimicry, but these talents faded as he grew older. At age fifteen, he was accepted into the Warsaw Music Conservatory, the best school of music in Poland.

Frederic's life at home and with his family was a happy one. Having a great love of country, Frederic could never ask for a better place to live in than Poland and his home also came to have a great impact on him later in life. As for his family, all together, there were five people--his father, mother, older sister Louise, himself, younger sister Isabella, and youngest sister Emilia. Though Frederic had a habit of teasing his sisters from time to time, he still gave them much affection. His parents were just as important in his life as his sisters. His mother and father thought it would be a good idea to teach all of the children how to play instruments, but Louise and Frederic were the only two who seemed genuinely interested. Even after he left for Paris as an adult, he always thought of his family in Poland. The family remained close, even during life's darkest hours.

Even though to him, all of his family meant a great deal to him, it was Emilia, Frederic's youngest sister, that was his main source of happiness as a young boy. When she passed away from tuberculosis at the age of fourteen, Frederic, still a teenager himself was absolutely devastated. When she was gone, Frederic closed off his feelings and became someone who kept to himself as he turned away the cheerful self he once was. Dear Emilia (or rather, the memories of her) would affect Frederic later by sparking the dream world he'd take part in.

Frederic continued to study at the music school for his family and himself even after losing his dear sister since it was the right thing to do in his mind. However in the year of 1830, his family and friends urged him to leave the country before November. An uprising was brewing among the people of Poland, who wanted to become their own country instead of being ruled by Russia (unfortunately for them, the resistance was crushed by the Russian Empire in 1831). Frederic wanted to stay in Poland and fight, but his family already arranged a carriage that would take him away from Poland and somewhere far away from the uprisings.

His first stop was Stuttgart, Germany where he stayed for a while and didn't truly enjoy his time. It was here he learned of the fall of his beloved country's capital to the Russians and fell into a deep depression for a long period of time. There he also expressed an anger against France and its people for not aiding his people against the Russians. After a while, he finally deciding it was time to pack up so he could head for Vienna, his second stop. Having visited Vienna as a child, he was use to the atmosphere but Austria opposed Polish independence as it was one of the nations which divided Poland and the people were also fearful of the uprising spreading to their homeland. This made things hard for him to live there, as he desired independence for his country and thus thought the Austrians opposing its independence to be a frustration.

When he at last arrived in Paris, he decided to use the French spelling of his name in order to avoid the Russian Empire's attention and remained a refugee citizen of France as he refused to change his passport papers over to ones of Russia because of his loyalty to Poland (also living in France for so many years did many things for him as he at one time was not making enough money which caused him a great depression and brought up thoughts of going to America which he later retracted, along with never truly mastering the French language as the spirit, culture, and language of Poland was very prevalent with him even after leaving home). As the years went on, Frederic gained popularity in many places all over Europe and even toured for a short time through England, Scotland, and Ireland (despite the fact he had disliked performing in public for a long time). During his lifetime, he met a great number of famous people such as Niccolo Paganini, Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn, Eugene Delacroix, and one of the many women who influenced his life-George Sand.

After many years of hardship and having to deal with his tuberculosis (already having lung troubles for a long time), he finally returned home to Paris in the year of 1849. It was during October that he became bedridden by tuberculosis. His friend Delfina Potocka, his personal doctor, and Louise all at his side during this time, they remained by his side as he went into a comatose-like state of slumber. This was where an entirely different adventure would begin and where phantoms of the past would reappear.

Upon entering his dream world (which to some extent was a reflection of much of his real world life), he met a young girl named Polka in the village of Tenuto and told her that the world they are in was his own dream, to which she simply thought of it as an amusing joke at first. He decided to follow Polka, Allegretto, and the others on their quest to stop the distribution of mineral powder, prevent a possible war, and even save their world from destruction. At first, he tries to explain the nature of this world his companions, but some seem to find the idea outright crazy. As their travels continued, Frederic began to feel as though his dream was slowly becoming his new reality, and that his own journey might very well determine his own fate.

The more Frederic travels in his dream world though, he gains a sudden feeling of closeness with his companions and considers them to be his friends and possibly even family. Though he has many allies, ranging from adults to children there is one companion he became closest with was Polka. This little blond girl who started out as just a floral powder seller in Ritardando became a very important role in everything in the long run.

To Frederic, Polka, who was only fourteen years old and dying of an incurable disease, reminded him strongly of his younger sister Emilia. She also seemed to echo a lot of words and emotions Emilia had displayed when she was alive. He later told Polka that he could feel Emilia's presence when they spoke as well and without even really knowing it, helped her to believe in the future. Yet even though he held Polka in such high regard, he still cared for his other companions. The trials and tribulations they all faced together proved that Frederic wished to help them stop the war between Forte and Baroque, as well as to end the destruction caused by the evil tyrant, Count Waltz.

As the group continued to travel onward, Frederic came to a realization when they reached the Sacred Tree grounds. The Old Fortune Teller spoke to him about how no one of the dream world could determine his fate but still advised him to follow Polka and see her open the fortune. After catching up to Polka in the Sacred Tree grounds, both of them saw that the fortune Polka held in her hands was blank. Their futures were not set in stone the way they had originally thought. Thus Frederic then realized and decided it was up to him to save Polka as well as the world from its fate, but was unsure of how to do it. He began to think that if he continued on this journey, he would find his answer.

After the battle with Count Waltz and Legato, Frederic at last determined that his dream world was nothing more than a dream after all (despite the number on contradictions he had along the way), and realized that he needed to accept things as they were; that the dream world was only a reflection of his world and the people within were only phantoms that were trying to comfort him in the end. As they drew closer to a strange portal before them, Polka said she was going to end everything for everyone's sake, but Frederic told her not to give up, and that it was he who must end things-after all, this was his dream and he felt it was the right thing to do. He told his companions that he could no longer help them, and that ending the dream would free them from their twisted fates and allow his suffering to finally end -- his wish to die coming true. Thus he decided to use this final battle as a way to test his friends in order to see if things could be changed or not; the victor would not only determine his own fate, but the dream world's and his friends' along with it.

When confrontation ends, it is Frederic who is the victor with his will to live being much stronger than his wish to die. He awakes from his dream and found himself cured of his illness, but the price was his friends died in his place because of his own will that clung to life rather than the one which clung to death. After that day, Frederic lived on normally or tried to; the memories of his dream world friends coming back into his mind from time to time and the small pain of guilt of the choice he made also being there. Yet two weeks came and went as one night, he fell asleep in his bed and slept for what felt like hours. However when he awoke, he found himself no longer in Paris and in a new dream world unfamiliar to him-- Somarium.

[Personality]

Frederic can be described as someone with two different sides to himself, the gentleman and the cynic. Polite, formal, well mannered, and graceful are among the many words to describe his outer image that he portrays. Upon the battlefield however and at certain points in his private life, it is much different. Cruel, cynical, firm, and cold are the words that can describe this side of the composer.

One should also note that being a man born of the aristocracy, he's also quite the intellectual, a good listener, and someone who respects others. On the other hand, he has his own limits of patience for people, can act rather stern some of the time, and even go off on his own without as much as saying a word to anyone. If one wants to go a bit even more in-depth with the emotions of this man, he is both someone with a good heart and someone who looks out for his own needs -- he'll care for others while thinking about what he wants for himself.

To go even further some more things to note is he often takes a long time to decide on something and tends to think too deeply about many things. Also having been cheated and betrayed by people during his life time, he holds a lot of mistrust and doubts about the people around him. He usually keeps to himself when it comes to personal matters and doesn't discuss them with anyone except with those who he feels he can trust. So he may come off as cold at first because he is not very open with other people, but will warm up to someone if they give him enough of a reason to trust them.

Despite his distrustful nature, he is not unkind; Frederic is more than willing to help those who need it and does think about the needs of others. He's also very nice to anyone he meets, strange or not. When glancing at him, some may see him as a kind gentleman with proper manners, but again that is only one side of himself he shows. If one can get close enough to him, the cold shell surrounding him will open up to reveal a much softer side and someone who desires only happiness in his life.

Even more to note is that Frederic has a unique manner of speech, one that would be considered poetic and he does this manner of speech quite often. He has a tendency to walk around looking for inspiration to use for his music, getting himself stuck deep in thought when doing so. He'll also view some things from a logical standpoint yet if a topic really gets him fired up, he won't hesitate to speak his mind on it.

Something else that is rarely seen to anyone is Frederic's romantic side. While he is capable of falling in love, his feelings are based more on emotions and not so much physical attraction. And while he tends not to try to be romantic, he unintentionally tends to charm the hearts of women without realizing it. As for his own feelings, Frederic tends to develop a crush on someone whom he has spent a lot of time with and gets to know on a very personal level. For most of his life, Frederic had terrible luck and timing when it came to love with an unwillingness to go further than just hugs and kisses because he desires commitment before pleasure, he also showed to have a streak of jealousy/anger if his lover acted unfaithful in front of him or flat out told him they didn't want to return the feelings. Rejection was also something he did not take too well too, causing him to become enraged and other such feelings. As a boy (and sometimes into adulthood), he tended to be nervous when dealing with women he had affections for. As for how he behaves in this manner among his friends in the dream world, he takes on a more father-like role toward the younger children and he sees none of the adults in a romantic light.

There are many factors that contributed to Frederic being who he is as a person such as the times he spent within his social circles (both a positive and negative effect on him as he was generally accepted by many people because of his talent, yet also had to spend a great deal of money in order to maintain the look of an aristocrat), and the many relationships with others (both having their ups and downs) with such people as Konstance Gładkowska, Tytus Woyciechowski, Franz Liszt, George Sand (along with her family), Maria Wodzińska, Jane Stirling. Then there's losing his beloved Poland to the hands of the Russias which caused him to become very bitter towards the world (among other things) since he was such a patriot to his country, even ready to lay down his life for it as he wanted to and writing beautiful compositions in its honor, sometimes he even wept for his country when playing certain pieces that reminds him of his homeland with students. However the two major things that helped to shape his personality and influence him as a person (giving him a whole new view on life) were his dear little sister Emilia and his struggle with tuberculosis for so many years.

Emilia was the main source of Frederic's happiness through his childhood and adolescent years until she passed away from tuberculosis at the age of fourteen. Even at the age of sixteen, losing Emilia caused Frederic a great deal of grief and with his source of happiness gone, he closed his feelings from the world and kept most things to himself. It was also Emilia, or rather, the memories of her that sparked the dream world which Frederic later took part in and it was also the same disease his dear little sister had that would come to plague him for the rest of his life.

Though not having tuberculosis in the beginnings of his life and still being a cheerful boy, little Frederic was always seen to be physically frail in appearance. Thus, it was no surprise when he began to have problems with his lungs, which eventually lead to symptoms of tuberculosis. As he got older, the symptoms only worsened despite the many doctors he saw while traveling with the Sand family. One could say all the traveling he did caused the rapid worsening health into full blown tuberculosis, making him even more closed off from the world than before and being bitter/jealous towards those who were healthier than he was and enjoyed life more than he did.

One final thing to note is about Frederic's behavior in the dream world. While he is able to understand that the dream world is his own creation, he still questions its existence and wonders if it was in fact a world of its own. For in this world, he does not show any sign that his is afflicted by tuberculosis and is able to use magic like it's second nature. In the beginning, he did not care what happened to the world and only saw it as a place inside his head. But in the end, he realizes that the people of his dream world were much closer to his heart than he first thought and thought it was his duty to save them all and grant his wish to end his suffering with death by challenging them to a final test of strength. However after the battle ends, it is he who takes the win for himself. For it was his own will to live was stronger than that of the one which desired death. Yet deep down, his victory was hollow for he lives with the guilt of his actions and wishes he did not have to pay such a huge sacrifice since he did care for the people whose lives he ended.

[Specialties/Abilities]

Despite having had no combat experience before entering his dream world, Frederic shows he is quite the competent fighter even if he isn't very strong in terms of physical fighting. This is why he relies heavily on his abilities as a user of magic. His spells are divided into light and dark respectively, so he's like a mix of a Black and White Mage except to quote him specifically, he can use any and all kinds of magic or at least has the potential to. However unlike White Mages, many of his light spells are offensive and not simply healing/defensive. Also unlike Black Mages, his offensive dark spells don't have any elemental properties to them.

The list of spells goes as followed: Coup de Grace, Orzel Bialy, Legion Fulminante, Phantom Pain (offensive light spells), Sacred Signature, Spirits Pathway, Tri-Clementia (light defensive/healing spells), then lastly Piu Grave, Coup de Jarnac, Mirage Blow, Crimson Blaze, Nimbostratus, Applaudissement Sonique (offensive dark spells). As for his choice of weaponry, Frederic uses a conductor's baton (specifically named Voiceless Scepter) as he can slash at enemies with it like a rapier and also use it for spell casting.

As for out of combat skills, Frederic is able to take any musical piece (particularly that for the piano) and be able to play it without any real difficulties.

[Affection] For friendships, he'll be close to anyone. Closer friendships are reserved for people he feels he can trust. For romantic ones, it depends upon the person since he's kind of a skeptic to romance, but willing to open up to the idea. But on the subject of that, even though he's a skeptic to romance, Frederic is open to the idea of dating and an intimate relationship. However, said person has to get passed his barrier of ice and the whole "love is a cruel reality" thing first, since it's how he thinks. For physical contact, Frederic might not like random people hugging him, but he's okay if you're close friend or someone he's become good friends with. As for kissing, unless someone is in a relationship with him (aka dating) or is a female friend (a close one), this is okay. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to say no.

[Fighting] Despite Frederic being a gentleman, he will fight back if you try anything to provoke him but is not one to provoke them himself unless he has a reason to. He'll also say stuff about being disrespectful of elders and all that stuff. As for death/serious injury, even though he has magical healing powers, Frederic's still human and major injuries could damage him and he is able to die. So please contact me before doing that, otherwise little scratches and stuff are fine.

[Other Permissions] Mind reading anything such as that is allowed, but be warned that the reader might get bored of what they see or creeped out since Frederic's mind is not the best place in the world. For 4th walling, being Chopin (and a historical figure) gives anyone automatic rights to that, so please go right ahead. However, I ask that anything traumatic about him or his country (of Poland) be kept under wraps or anything too personal to be kept quiet about. Also, please don't mention he's from a video game (if your character happens to know) because that would just crush him.

[Other Facts] Massive amounts of blood freaks him out due to various reasons (mostly because of his TB issue) and he's very sensitive about his dead sister, so please don't ask him about her or come around him when you're bleeding a lot. Also, mentioning death or dying might result in him angsting about it for a while.
