Hey all! I hope everyone's new years and new semesters in school are going well so far. It hasn't taken me very long to get buried under a mountain of work, hence no new updates. There just aren't enough hours in the day anymore. Aside from studying, nothing too interesting has been going on. I've been mulling over my summer plans, trying to decide if I want to stay in Ann Arbor and take summer classes. I've also been trying to figure out what to do for my internship or fieldwork requirement I have to fulfill in order to get my degree. I thought about taking classes at my school's biological station up north, but then I'd have an empty apartment that I'd be paying for, plus the cost of the classes. Then I thought about finding labwork on campus, but apparently internships need to be off campus. Then I got wind of an internship at the Department of Health at home, but they only hire one person. It would involve taking water samples from a bunch of beaches and analyzing them for E. coli two days a week, then during the other three days, working on a research project for the county. Apparently they pay really well. I'm leaning toward trying this, but I keep hearing how much fun the classes up north are. I wish I could afford them!
