Sunday morning, 8/7/16
On Friday, I got a "nuisance" notice from the city, for letting my grass get too high. You would think, with my not working, this would be the perfect time to get all sorts of stuff done. Heck, I thought so too. But, I haven't really sunk into the deep depression, but I think I'm skimming the surface close enough to not have much motivation to do anything. It's a little irksome, cuz there's so much I need to do, such as mowing the yard, but it's hard to make myself do much of anything. I guess I am doing well enough at keeping the mental boat afloat otherwise though, so to speak. I get a little prickly and irritable sometimes though. But overall, everything considered, I think I'm doing well. I can only think, cuz honestly, sometimes I wonder if I really KNOW what a normal person feels like. But that's my life, so it doesn't bear dwelling on.
Yesterday, I mixed up a gallon of brush killer and went around the yard methodically, as if I WERE mowing, and hit every bit of poison ivy I could. I didn't want to mow until I had done that. I USE the yard clippings, and I don't want poison ivy turning them into toxic waste. I don't want yard clippings to be dangerous for me to handle. While I was at it though, of course I also sprayed other things. English ivy, little tree sprouts trying to come up, dandelions, blackberry sprouts, etc. Whatever I didn't like. I don't know if this stuff will kill the ivy, but I'll keep note of the results for Robin's benefit.
After I sprayed everything I could think of, I still had some brush killer left, so I went over to the neighbor's, and asked if she had anything she wanted me to spray. She said, "Whatever you think." So I went around, and Holy Cow! I found the mother lode of where all the poison ivy had likely come from. It was on the other side of her fence, in the church's hedgerow. I sprayed the heck out of it. In a couple of weeks, I'll check to see if anything needs to be resprayed. I have declared all out war on the poison ivy, and have authorized the use of chemical weapons.
