I don't think that's true. I'm sure it will hurt many people when they have to return to the state they were in, yes, and that is very unfortunate -- maybe the good doesn't necessarily outweigh the bad. But I think the happiness we get from it in the meantime counts for something just the same.

No, it would be very vain of me to think that they were. But since there's little we can do to change the situation, I don't believe there's any harm in enjoying it.
