General 50 Book Challange Update
Its been a while since I've been able to post a book review. Between being sick and other RL goings on, I'm about a month (which = about 4 books) behind where I would like to be. I am reading again, however. I'm currently a quarter of the way through The Witching Hour; the first book of the Mayfair Chronicles, by Anne Rice. I've been trying to read this series since high-school but for one reason or another, never got around to it.
First impressions, it takes a while to get into it. Rice's style is a double edged sword...the details are fantastic - making you feel like you are right there, but they can also go on and on. It took me a good week just to get into the story. Usually, once I'm there I don't put the book down, but in this case I have to take it in small doses. I do hope its all worth it in the end.
I had already decided to re-read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series once done with the Mayfairs, but I've just learned that book 8 will be out in April. I have not read book 7 as yet, but I may just wait a little longer (I want to see if I can find a release date for the paperback version).
I'm also going to see if I can find the full Vampire Chronicle set. I read Interview with a Vampire a hundred times while in high-school, and once owned books 2 and 3, but Interview is the only one I've read in that set.
