Journal Gems - Week of Aug. 9th 2009 -Theme: Family
1. Who's the oldest living member of your family? I believe it is my father who is 72, although, my husband's grandfather is 90.
2. Who's the youngest? My niece who is 2.
3. If you could spend a two-week vacation with one family member, who would it be? Why? Other than my husband & children, I would choose my two youngest sisters. I practically helped to raise them, but then we all went our separate ways. We do see each other at least 2 or 3 times a year, but I would like to have some one on one time w/ each of them. I want to learn more about the women they have become.
4. The old saying goes, "you can pick your friends, but you cannot pick your family." if you could choose one of your friends, who would you 'elect' to become a member of your family? Why?
5. Who in your family can you just NOT stand? Why?
6. Do you have any famous family members? My grandfather was some what famous in Nassau, Bahamas. He became one of the first black head chefs in a time when that position was reserved for white Europeans. In addition to that, my mom said that she was interviewed on the radio, as she had given birth to me - one of the first natural Bahamian citizens. I was born on the day of Independence from British rule.
7. Do you have a family member that you've lost contact with? who are they, and why do you not currently have contact? I have many family members who live in Grenada, some of whom I've never met - a situation I would like to rectify one day.
