Goals #6 & 34, Run a 10k & buy myself a new mustache

Jul 21, 2012 17:06

Guys, I'm cruising through this second list a lot faster than my first one. But maybe that's because I've done a lot of the easy ones on the first one....anyway, ran the Pioneer Day 10k today. Did pretty well, too. My time was 1:22, and my personal best from before my injuries was 1:18! NICE. Someday, someday soon, I'm going to get a new best time for the half marathon. I can feeeeel it. Maybe at the Moonlight in two weeks? The Moonlight last year is actually my current standing best time - it was my first one, I did it in 2:52, and haven't managed to break 3 hours since. But this time. THIS TIME.

Also of note, I did buy myself a new mustache for my Jack Sparrow costume, because my ward was having a pirate BBQ and I wanted to wear my costume. My old one was getting hashed from the spirit gum, and last Halloween I discovered that fashion tape (typically used to hold slutty dresses in place to avoid wardrobe malfunctions) is great for sticking fake facial hair on, keeping it there, and then coming off without damaging it. So I got a new mustache and a new little beard patch, because the one I have is pretty cheap. So I cut the braids off it, and trimmed a patch (that I think is actually supposed to be a Hitler-like mustache) into a "beard patch" to go above the braids. Anyway, the point is now my Captain Jack costume has fully convincing facial hair instead of a sparse mustache and totally fakey beard. They were expensive, though. Man. I did a great job budgeting my small paycheck from last week (because of the 4th, and the Vegas trip) but the mustache and beard put a crimp in my style. Right now I think I have food to last me until I get paid next week, and I can pull $30 off my line of credit for the tank of gas I'm sure I'll need before then, so hopefully no credit cards will be necessary.
