Feeding Blogs into My Head

I've come across a shit load of people's blogs that I adore, and I would love to feed them into livejournal. BUT it doesn't look like that is an option. What do you guys suggest as far as a user-friendly blog feeder? I still prefer livejournal for my blogging and to see all your blogs, but I want a simple way to subscribe to others. OK, the

I just wish there was an easy way to get blog updates directly emailed to me. Or is there? I still don't quite understand how to use RSS feeds, but I know I've subscribed to blog email updates before and now I cant figure it out (though I realize it depends on the blog).

Not sure I know the answer to your question, unless you want to use Google Reader. I haven't really used it so I don't know if it's what you're looking for or not.

Ya, I'm going to go with Google Reader if I can't figure out how to feed my LJ. Ya, I have no idea how to get shit emailed to me. If it all just fed to my lj, it would all be good.

Oh wait. You can read RSS feeds on LJ. They call them syndicated accounts. I've used them myself. It's in the FAQ: How do I watch feeds on my Friends list? What are syndicated accounts?

The only thing I haven't quite figured out is how to get new RSS feeds onto LJ that aren't on the list of RSS feeds.

Do you know if you can get RSS feeds emailed to you? It makes no sense that wouldn't even be an option. If everything could just be emailed to me, then I can read everything from one spot. I don't have energy to keep up with google reader when I have twitter and so many sites to keep up with already.

You can get RSS feeds e-mailed to you but I think that's independent of LJ. Inside LJ, I don't think you get notifications of RSS feeds.

I'm aware of that. I'm not the one who's looking for LJ feeds, that's harmalicious. ;) She wants all her feeds in LJ, and I want mine in email.

So can you tell me how to implement that or where I can start? I've tried this before and came up completely stumped.

External to LL, I think you just subscribe to the RSS feed on the site, providing that they've set it up and notifications should come through - I used to get all Jane Espenson's posts that way and I get soccer results that way, for example. The two were quite different though - JE's actual posts used to come through as the text of the email whereas the soccer results come through with the link to the results only as the text of the e-mail.

I think you have to have a paid account to get new RSS feeds in your lj which I don't. I started a Google Reader and it actually works really nicely. Thanks for you guy's help! ESG - good luck with figuring it out!!
