The Meaning Behind Music
As part of the publicity campaign for the movie "Skyfall", the song by Adele is being played on the various radio stations. When I consider the downbeat words, the lack of narrative in the lyrics, and the uninspiring melody, I shouldn't like it.
But I do.
Is it because I know it's a James Bond theme song? No -- maybe it's because I can visualize the background. Maybe it's because I can pick out the connecting notes to the rest of the scores to the other Bond films. ( I haven't seen the movie yet.)
Or maybe everyone should be allowed to be a little shallow. From time to time.
