35 Books Read in 2007

I did it. I tracked every book I read throughout 2007. Okay, I kind of fell off the wagon at some points, so I might not have some dates, or some authors, but I read the book, cover to cover.

Check it out here.

I think that by tracking the books I read, it made me want to read more than just the cheesy vampire novels that I usually read. I also think it made me buy more books. I can remember times when I had read everything I owned, so I had to go to a used book store to find something new. Right now though, I've got tons of books I still haven't read. Not to mention nearly $100 in bookstore gift cards. (I'm thinking "From Hell" and the Dexter series.)

It's also interesting to see how much I read late March, early April. I was reading a lot at work late March because my temp job was coming to an end and there was no job offer on the table, so I didn't bother looking for extra work to do. Then I was between jobs the beginning of April, so I would do nothing but sit in front of the tv with Food Network on as background noise and read craploads. That was good times.

For a while, I was reading two books at a time too. I'd read one book on the bus to and from work, and the other while at home. Usually my home book would be an oversized book or a million pages book that wouldn't be easy to read on the bus. Towards the end of the year I found my stash of half completed sudoku books, and figured I should probably work towards completing some of those while at home.

I plan on continuing my book tracking for 2008 to see how I stack up. (Hah, get it? "Stack" like a book stack! Gawd, I suck.) My bus reading time has been cut though. Now that Greg has started his new job downtown, I get a ride home every night, so my 40 mins of bus reading daily has been cut in half. Currently, I'm reading the Confidential rough edition of the second book in the Elandera series. I get to actually make notes for this one though! And discuss it with the author! It's pretty sweet.

Got any good book recommendations?
