I went to the restaurant formerly known as Capers today. I really was bummed out when they sold it, but I still went sometimes because the menu was the same.
Inside, they've turned the little waiting area into a bar, and when I went at lunch to pick up my sandwiches, I had to squeeze in between a bunch of guys drinking martinis at noon. It's a terrible bottleneck, and I couldn't help but notice that there was nobody sitting, let alone dining in the actual restaurant. They've closed up the kitchen so you can't see inside of it anymore, and it just feels annoying.
The menu items are technically the same, but they've definitely gone cheap. My meatloaf sandwich was on like Wonder Bread or something, and the pea soup was really watery. It was still good, but if Capers was too expensive before, it's not really worth it anymore.
I guess it's okay with me, half the reason I liked going to Capers was the nice people who worked there, and while I have no personal beef with the current staff, they're probably assholes...
Now I've got to get to bed, so I can get up super early tomorrow morning and work the car show, but it's Friday night before UPS begins Fall term, so there's a lot of noisy freshmen earning their regrets outside.
It's going to be a long day tomorrow.
