On 9/11 I went with the lil' bro and some fam to a live taping of WWE RAW at Madison Square Garden. I'd never been to live pro-wrestling and wasn't sure what to expect. Turns out the crowd was as much of an attraction as the wrestling. I'm proud to say I initiated a good number of boisterously disorderly chants and provided more than my share of derisive heckling. My throat is paying the price today. Overall it was good night out enjoying some decent organized athletic buffoonery.
That is
Vincent Kennedy McMahon, Connecticut billionaire, wrestling promoter and business mogul behind the WWE. Since he is the big bad corporate overlord he gets to beat up the crowd's hero and belittle all the hoi pollloi. Exactly what I would do if I were the man in charge...now that, that is cool!
If you've never been I recommend it, but make sure to have a lot of alcohol and a solid squad of screamers at your back.
I went out to vote in the NY primaries yesterday. A question for other NYers out there -- is the Republican primary closed to registered Democrats in our state? The poll workers said of course, but I know that is not always the case.
Voting is futile enough as is (as evidence by the landslide results), but I went specifically to register a vote against Eliot Spitzer. While I was there I also voted against the rogue's gallery of jerks running for Attorney-General by casting my vote for an unknown. I saw him in a debate and he seemed like an acceptable centrist/Republican-lite type. I forget his name but what matters is his name was not Mark Green or Andrew Cuomo, by definition making him less oily.
