It has been quite some time since I've actually gotten down to write anything substantial - or at all. As is my custom, this is not because of any lack of activity on my part, rather an excess which has occupied all of my time and thoughts and interfered with my "normal" "routines".
At the top of my list is that nearly a month ago, I moved back to Meadville. I didn't really move back to Carlisle in the meantime and think of that town less and less of my primary residence. Most of everything I do from here. I don't want to be one of the lame legions that end up back with their parents after, if not during, their college years. My apartment so far has proven to be the slum I knew in my heart that it was when I signed the lease in fervent desperation. It has a carpenter ant problem, there isn't any gas or hot water, and summer + fact that heat rises = a warm residence for me! I'm taking care of it, but I only have so much time to devote to that knotty end of my life that it is slow-going.
Working at the Wise Center and doing research for Dr. Bluhm has been good so far, even though I still feel as if I'm just getting started. I'm working informally in the ASG and GAP offices too, plus a shift at GFC and I'll be starting a radio show this week. Sometime during the summer I'm going to pilot an idea I have for the fall. "The Lonely Hours" with Arthur After Dark. It'll be nightscapes (vis a vis Echoes on NPR); blues/jazz; club/techno/remixes; and my personal hodge podge of night music. If you care to listen, go to the warc.allegheny.edu page and Listen Live to our streaming webcast. I'm on Thursdays from midnight until two am. Next fall, I'm hoping to reign that in to 10 to midnight. It's yet another project I've gifted myself with and like all the others, it's yet another weight to carry. I enjoy it though, so I'm not really complaining.
I've seen my family recently and that has given me stories to tell. Not the immediate weirdos, but my extended in Pittsburgh whom I adore.
I'm no closer to any sort of resolution on my future than I've ever been, although I did meet with Dr. Searle-White and he's helped me to begin finding my way again.
The problems of the world are causing me more concern than they should. That bothers me.
I'll get back to regular updates once I get cable/internet in the apartment, now I'm doing all of my internet work from the Campus Center and my time here is not unlimited.
