Part 2

Aug 19, 2004 06:10

In the next part of the ongoing chronicle of "city boy who is scared of animals", I was in bed and felt a draft and realized that I don't have a fan and it was a bat flying around my bedroom again.

During lunch at work today, we had a long discussion about bats. Apparently they're notorious for carrying rabies so one should catch them so the animal can be tested. Given the discussion I decided I'd rather invest some time trying to catch it rather than get a billion shots. Supposedly the correct protocol is to put it live into a clear plastic ziplock bag and throw it in the freezer and give the lab the frozen body. That was a little too grotesque for me so I just caught it in a pot.

While trying to lock it in a room, I managed to slam a door on its wing by mistake. When it tried to escape I managed to catch it.
