There is a boy who lives
Amongst the trees
He speaks none and
Sits on a swing
Run before
You see his face
There’s a danger
You might face
Jonghyun was often warned by the adults not to go to The Forest. His grandmother told him that a boy his age fainted in the woods and his body was found only a week after. His mother told him that the boy’s spirit would take naughty children away. His father told him to run away if he sees a tree with a swing.
Jonghyun never really believed the adults but he stayed away from The Forest. Oh wells, it seemed to please them.

It was Taemin who suggested playing in The Forest. Minho was reluctant, since hide-and-seek wasn’t under the category of ‘competitive sport’. Well, at least not in his list. But he’d find a way to win them all, he always does. Jinki just smiled at the suggestion. That’s what he does best anyway. Jonghyun thought Jinki was weird. Yes he’s nice and friendly but, Jonghyun can’t help but think Jinki’s not as silly as he looks. Afterall, he’s the village genius. But as he sees Jinki giving that open-mouthed smile of his, he’s quite sure this boy is plain, weird. And Taemin’s scary. Or at least to Jonghyun, he is. There’s something about Taemin that makes him adorably scary. Maybe it’s the way he talks, or the way he smiles. Or maybe it’s the way he has with people around him. Somehow, they can’t say no to Little Taemin. Everyone loves Taemin and Taemin knows it. That’s what makes him scary.
Seeing that no one objected to the idea of playing hide-and-seek in The Forest, Jonghyun decided to speak up. Or down, since he’s staring at the dirt beneath his feet.
“Erm, Taemin? I’m not sure whether we should play in The Forest. Ma told me naughty children would be taken away by a ghost. Hmm.. ya.”
Taemin stared at Jonghyun for a good while before giving the smile that got him the village’s affection.
“Jonghyun hyung, I’m sure we’re all good children, aren’t we? And my Ma told me that ghosts don’t appear in the day. It’s only ten now. Besides, we won’t go too far, right? Come on hyung, just this once. Please?”
Jonghyun didn’t know what happened but he vaguely remembered looking up after Taemin spoke and looking into his eyes. And now they’re already choosing the ‘seeker’.
Yup, Taemin is scary.
