Atari 10 weeks

Feeling better about my puppy. We're hitting our stride together and he's learning some impulse control, which is nice. He still has issues wit being restrained and contained but the solution for that I think will come with time. He's an energetic puppy but doesn't quite know how to interact nicely with the other dogs. The girls both hate him, Scream especially. Which surprises me, since she is usually the best with other dogs. Venture seems to be the most adjusted to him, Atari even got him to play.

Still working on food motivation. It isn't lacking but he just doesn't eat enough! He is growing like a weed still so that's a good sign I guess. He's also gone a few days with only one accident (and it's my fault too I didn't let him out directly after being crated) and is generally good about letting me know he has to go. Only issue this week is his obsessive eating dirt and water gulping. He broke the water bowl in his kennel and steps in bowls that are on the ground, so I haven't gotten a replacement bowl in his crate yet. I guess the lack of free access freaks him out because when he gets the chance, he drinks and drinks until he throws up. A little concerning, especially with water intoxication being a real danger. I'm trying to take him to the bowl more frequently and taking him away after a few seconds to regulate how much he consumes, we'll see if that rubs off at all.

Atari also went to a puppy play group today. He's been desperate for some buddies and there's only one puppy his general age around but our schedules never match up. He did okay, was very scared the first 15 minutes but the last 15 of the 30 minute class he was playing with a few other puppies. I'm probably not going to go back to that particular class though. They had a 15 month old mini aussie-doodle that was not friendly sitting in the class and he kept getting sprayed with a water bottle for warning other puppies to stay away. The age limit for the class is 20 weeks, then there's a separate class for teenager puppies. This was an adult dog in a puppy class snarling at all the babies. Rubbed me the wrong way, really. There's one other playgroup that I know of, so we'll give that one a visit and see if that's a little better.

Speaking of doggie friends, my friend is getting a dog soon (hopefully tomorrow?) And I have high hopes that he will play with Atari. They aspire to do some hobby agility so that'll be cool. The dog in question is a 13 month old bc, I think it's a mix but the owner says pure. Either way, it's a cute dog. I'm excited for them.
