Hello.
I've noticed the same issues with DVD Shrink on my stand-alone player. I don't know if it's something that Nero buggers up on or what in the burning phase potentially. My recommendation: If it ain't broke why fix it? If DVD Xcopy works then I'd continue to use it until it doesn't work anymore. That's just my own personal opinion but then I'm lazy - when I find something that works I stick to it. I've had great success with DVD Decrypter and Nero Recode but for some reason those movies just do not want to play on my stand-alone Allegro ABV-341 (Zenith unit) properly. Skips/stutters but they play perfectly on my Polaroid. If I do a movie with DVD Xcopy the copies play perfectly on both. The only difference I can really note is the fact that DVD Xcopy uses the Patton Couffin interface for burning. I also notice that to do Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (I never had real success for this playing properly in my Zenith until now with Xcopy) that it took 50+ minutes to do a backup with the encoding phase of either Shrink/Recode2. With Xcopy it took 28 minutes to read the DVD and another 13-14 minutes at 4x. Kprobe2 results were fantastic with a PO average of 2.02 and PI average of 0.01 so it was by no means a coaster. This is with using Ritek/Ridata 4x DVD+R media with a DVD-Rom booktype.I really can't complain about Xcopy at this point, guess I'll keep using it here and see how I continue to do. I'd recommend the same really - as I said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :)
