A cause close to my heart...

I am collecting funds for a free primary school in rural Bangalore. I am asking for your help ! :)

Here is their motto :)
No admission fees
No tution fees
Free text books/notebooks/uniforms/pens
Free breakfast and annual medical checkup for the kids.

What is my plan ?
- Along with a personal contribution, I am collecting funds from folks I know. You could enable great things in a kid's life! I know some would be contributing elsewhere, but if you want to help out, let me know! Some friends have sent checks to me already...

- Second, I am looking at other ways to generate funds. Orgs like AID come to mind. mmk suggested getting corporate funding, which is another option. Will follow up with these ideas...Let me know if you have any other thoughts.

So, what is the school about ?
Its a rural primary school in Bangalore's outskirts. The school has 350 students, 10 teachers and needs ~ 10 lakh rupees to run per year. It is officially registered and all that. Rs 2000 per year takes care of one student's expenses. My uncle has been volunteering there for sometime now, he asked me to help out anyway I can. He is an old time supporter of the communist party in India and believes in causes like these ;) .... If you want more info, let me know - I have a bunch of brochures at home.
Their target is the small rural kid near Yelahanka, who works instead of going to school, since s/he cant afford to.

My motivation
I basically got almost free education all my life, and I am grateful for it. 10 years in school was free, since my school was owned by my dad's cousin... UVCE cost 2-3 k rupees per year, and Arizona state univ made it free as well with fee waivers. With all the free education, money, time on hand and a rich friends circle (pun intended) , I felt like putting it to some good use ..

ps:
You can visit the school anytime, its near Yelahanka, Bangalore.

Addendum:

The school is registered and run by "Bangalore education
trust". They have been licensed as a charitable organization and
any contributions will receive tax benifits. They also have a
licence for receiving contributions from out of India (the founder
is an Indian living in Swizterland). I have heard of corporate
matching, although I don't know the specific details yet. I don't think they have a website yet.
The brochures I have show last year's balance
sheet, a few photos of small kids doing PT, looking at a Newton's disk
and a microscope and such ;)
